Default MK2 Mex 'XE' Conversion Q

Does anyone know of any info regarding putting the Vauxhall XE engine in a MK2 Escort? Any good reference sites?

A friend of mine has fitted one in his MK2 sorted all of the aftermarket bits needed for the conversion. but the electrics have proved a sticking point. It turns over and thats it.

He has kept the fuel injection system and distributer not carbs

Any info would be great.

Hi - I've got a Mk 1, to which I fitted an Xe retaining Vauxhall fuel injection ( Motronic 2.8 - no dizzy ).
Any more info on the problem?
Fuel pressure?
Sparks?
History - Did it run?
Fault codes? - listed on the topbuzz site.

I found the following very helpfull :-

http://www.timandgail.pwp.blueyonder...t/vauxhall.htm
www.vaux-md.net/injection/( pages on testing the injection system)
http://www.topbuzz1.carenthusiasts.c.../gf50/gf50.htm

I used a Haynes manual for the wiring - quite straight forward and good fun when finished.

I'm just finishing of this winters project, now it has a Mini cooper supercharger and water injection fitted. It's running and should be on the road on May 1st, and in a ditch on May 2nd !

Good luck

To get an XE running on the bare minimum you will need:

1) Black wire connected to switched live
2) Red wire to permanent live
3) Thick red wire with blue trace to fuel pump
4) Earths on the engine to bodywork

DON'T FORGET the earth for the engine, the ECU picks its earth up from the fuel rail where the black loom box sits.

The red + black (switched live) wires can be found on the right side of the loom just as it exits the black loom box

This might be of some help to you

P.s Nice choice on engine you won't be dissapointed
