Pinto
Last year I got hold of a low mileage 2ltr pinto with a 205 block and unleaded head, it came out of a Royal mail van ...
I rebuilt the motor to go in my 63 Ford and ran it about last season but found it gutless but very good on fuel and pulls like a freight train uphill..
Since then I have done some research an found it to be a Low Compression motor....
How can I make it perform like a pinto should as cheap as poss....
Has anybody got any advice on these...

Remove the head and have it skimmed, it sounds as if it is standard and there is plenty of room for skimming. Put a good head gasket back on felpro or similar check out Burtons site

Lower compression than 2.0 pinto for a car. 1.6 cam and vv carb. Also has bigger flywheel for 9.5 inch clutch. Cheap way to get a 205 block though thats not been stressed

Are you saying that I should try to get a 1600 cam and that should make it better, That's if the cam is totally different ...the one that's in that is..

The pistons are level with the block ,and the block is stamped AW which means injection It is fitted with a twin chock and the can shaft that came with the motor..

What you need is a fast road or high torque cam for a 2 liter pinto
What year transit did your engine come from had it injection fitted when you got it? i wouldn't read to much into block stampings
AV AW AX are all just transit blocks from what i could find

id a transit engine for stockcar racing back in the day and it was unreal slow,
when I pulled the head of the pistons sat down the bore, I cant remember how much but im near sure it was by a few mm
for all it would take to skimmed the head I suppose its worth a try mate
don't be scared to take a good bit off

No what im saying is that transit engines had 1600 cams to start with, good for low down torque but gutless up top

I wish it was injection, I don't wish to go mega fast just give it more guts..
