Kicks Cossie butt in both styling & performance. Right off the showroom floor.
It's a good thing Ford of America is providing the goods, while Ford of Europe is for once, empty-handed (unless you call the Mondeo/Focus ST competition
)
What do u guys think!!

Just a shame it's stuck in the dark ages with a live axle....
How well do these handle compared to a European car? American cars arn't exactly renoun for being good handling cars!

cant argue with that
seems that ford are back pedaling though, they tried to be different and failed so now there gonna attempt to put there loyal customers back into focus and give them what they want,,,,,,,,,, cause there loosing them now too and about to close down
which means this may be a nice car to by,,,,,,,,,,, wonder if they will bring the RS badge back then

And wrong

Late Mustangs have been beating the E46 M3GTRs on the track in the USA over the last couple of years.
And people moan about live axle, but done right and its not a problem, and has nobody seen how shit cossie rear suspension design/setup is then?

but most cossie owners still think there drift ready motors too and cause there rwd they will out run a scooby,,,,,,,,,,, just blinkers and miss infomation
the old shelby cant have handled that well
I think Ford Europe betta recognise!
They know there's a market for high end performance every day cars. But they arn't doing naything about it?
As for the new ST, please
Don't make me laugh, that has to be the single most pathetic attempt at 'decent power' Ford have ever made

its actually a nice car and for the cash its a great car imo
just its fucking ugly and the styling is wank
So 220bhp from a 2.5 litre turbocharged 5 cylinder engine is good is it?
Please.....I've seen 1.4 4 cylinder turbocharged engines do 220 for breakfast.
Obviously its detuned dramatically, but why? Why not let it loose with at least what the VXR has.

you wanna tune it then tune it
also from a marketing point of veiw if you buy a car with 300bhp standard and tune it you get 350 bhp,,,,,,,, thats OK but if you get a 200bhp car and first state of tune you get 250, then theres 275 and then you can get 350 for very little work and not touch the engine more people will actually prefer to buy it and its still gonna be insurnace friendly imo
hope that helps
why didnt they make the cosworth stage 3 to start with ???, was that crap cause of it

Fuel Economy
Insurance

Ford are marketing the Ł17000 ST at a certain market and its all about balance, as we know all you have to do is put a slightly harsh Diff into a car and every magazine and reporter will jump on the band wagon and slate it, just like the VXR now and its "shocking torque steer" not that it would be shocking to anyone on here but the little girl reporter for autocar that tests it will think so

aftermarket tuning they DONT think of BUT they know that a 350bhp car aint gonna sell aswell as a 200bhp car thats 5k cheeper
hence why the saph cossie was DETUNED when sold
dont think the diff has made the car torque steer
but you are spot on,,,, i was looking at the BIGGER picture
one of the parts directors has just taken delivery of hes st3 company car last week,,,,,,,,,,,,, as he made reference to that then told me it would cost me 15 and a 1/2 for me to buy it if i wasnt leaving
tosser
, i told him that if he needs any parts just remember when he calls volvo ill do him a deal and help out any tech questions for him

Ever driven a VXR or any of its rivals Snowy?
Ive driven an Astra VXR, and its a prime example of it not being all about power.
Ive driven that and a few others (not the FST yet tho) and rate the Mk5 Golf GTI Turbo much higher than the VXR and its about 30bhp down according to factory figures.
Hell when we was having a tear up the Golf kept up with the VXR in the few races we had from about 30 to 100.
VXR is horrid to drive compared to the Golf and nowhere near as fun, just looks better on the outside and nicer book figures.
Never driven an ST yet, but its a good example of it not all being power.

But wouldn't you, if you were ford, want to make it more than the VXR? because they will fall foul when someone wants to buy a new car, with a bit of power, reliability, and addordability and they go for the astra just because of that little extra

Thats a chip foose creation. The PROPER shelby GT500 was so much better imho. Eleanor is still a nice car but everyone thinks its actually the GT500 as shelby designed it..

From what I have heard, I would sooner have Ford Europe build quality.

My fave is still the Mk1 though
I had a test drive of a 2005 Mustang 4.6i premium with the optional supercharger kit fitted while i was in Las Vegas - only thing that let it down for me was the fact it is left had drive
or i'd be sat in one right now
stunning car to drive, quite simply a monster

id have a cossie over that for looks and performance.compare a 450bhp cossie against that and it would get its arse kicked.pluse if they blew up what would cost more.bring back old skool motors

And your wrong about it costing more too, mustang tuning is incredibly cheap.
