Just curious, but what was the hottest CRX Del Sol they made, import or otherwise, and same applies for the Civic, both the coupe (same version used in first Fast and Furious movie) and the old grandad style one (narrow front lights)???
Just curious, as said.

Type R for the civic. Old style was way better than new style lightweight 1.6 190bhp (i think) revvy as fook proper little race car. but was only available in japan.
Think the crx was the vti. Same as the civic vti.

All other shapes and models of that age n older was 1.6 VTi at best.

im sure the CRX wedge shape civic was jst a VT an not the VTI my mate picked a 1.6 16 CRX up the other day an i was pretty impressed with it revs real freely, an doesnt feel like you have to wait on the vtec as it pulls from quite low down,

The old wedge shaped 1.6 vtec would be a great choice of car for you Jay:
Great handling for the ring
Fast
Cheap to run
Reliable
In your price range
LOADS you can do to it later on if you want to modify
Cool looking in an almost old skool way now
Im just not sure on insurance?

But if you're not bothered about rust then theyre awesome little cars. Do the right mods to them and they will outhandle most cars in the twisty stuff but for the love of god dont stick anything bigger than 15's on it

Still leaning MR2 though
Turbo power!
190bhp n/a in a lightweight, reliable car could well be superb fun though

I can't imagine them being as quick as the MR though? Only worry with the MR is the maintenance costs that can come with turbo cars. If the turbo goes I have a fair sized bill etc

Get a nice twisty track and give me one of those and you try and catch me in a standard mr2 turbo!
Might not be blistering top end, but point to point they are a very capable little car

Aye but slower than my Fiat 0-60 in standard form. MORE POWER!!!
I wanna move up in terms of speed not stay at the same level. I really fancy those type Rs you know.

There's none of those Type-Rs (EK9?) as pictured above on ebay OR the trader
Can't get an idea of price now but there is a Jordan one for £5750... what are they like? Prefer the type R to be honest.

my younger brothers got an import Del sol 160bhp. Is a great car for the money, go for the import if u get one, you get an extra 8-10bhp, electric roof
and a momo steering wheel and gearknob as standard. There pretty nippy for a 1.6 and sound shit hot when the v-tec kicks. The only problem with it is the roof squeaks all the time, they have a good driving postion though and it seems to handle pretty good, gotta say though my mate has a 150 bhp CRX v-tec (the little wedge shape thing with the window in the back
) and this thing seems to fly for a standard motor, seems alot livelier and sounds a bit 'looser' than the del sol

Although to be fair these do vary from site to site. Carstats.co.uk has the CRX as 0.1 secs faster
I take it they respond well to tuning then and 200bhp-ish isn't out of the question for reasonable money?
Just dunno if it's worth spending money tuning it when I could by the MR2 with vastly superior power and release loads more with a stage 1 upgrade.

As for 0-60 times it depends what you want the car for. If you want to go fast in straight lines then the mr2 would probably be your best bet but if you want a fairly fast extremely good handling fun car that you can throw around in the bends then the crx would be alot better.
Personally I have my driving fun on extremely narrow country lanes usually late at night in the pitch black where you cant get up any real speed between bends so a nippy light good handling front wheel drive car will continue to be my weapon of choice. I'm currently planning a pug 205 gti b road weapon complete with lamp pod and lots of spotlights
