Default Fuse box problem - Fiesta RS Turbo

Can anybody help me out with this fuse box problem?

It involves the interior hester, heated rear screen and the reverse light.

Basically, firstly the interior heater would stop working intermitently, then so did the charge cooler which I have powered from same lead as the the heated rear window power supply.

A few knocks of the fusebox got them working again, not the best solution but it worked easily. Then the reverse light also played up.

Now the heater has stopped completely, the charge cooler is very underpowered and looses power when you select reverse, but the bulb doesn't light up.

Another problem is that when started from cold the the fuel pump relay repeatedly clickes for upto 10 seconds before finally priming. Then it will re-prime a couple of times. Presumably a live feed problem?

I've heard the fuse boxes in the mk 3 Fezzy and mark 5&6 Escorts are well known to f*ck up. Are these the classic symptoms? Know one seems to know.

AND what is the solution?

Any ideas greatly appreciated, cheers.

yes m8 this is one of those symptoms your best bet is taking the whole of the fuse box and check it cuz if your is similar to the mk5 and 6 it will be due to heat and you can treat it by resoldering as many points as you can reach is a pain in the butt but it works hope it helps

Cheers for the reply, I'm gonna have a look Sat after work.
Not sure if it is the same as the later Escorts. TBH I thought the wires had female spade connectors and just clipped into the plastic fuse box body, then the relays and fuses pushed through the holes in the plastic into the connectors. Hopefully I'm wrong!

I'll post and let you know.

*** UPDATE TIME ***

Firstly thanks for the replies, being new I didnt know what sort of response I'd get, so cheers.

Got out to the car on Sun and dropped down the fuse box. Checked all the relays and found a bit of corrosion on the green (number V) ignition relay - power in contact.

Also looked at the bus-bars and found corrocion on the contact with the main power (red and blue) wire.

A quick clean up of these points has cured the problems - all is good again!!! Gonna take ir to an auto electrician to do a better job thou! he he.

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
