Default DV fitting

having just fitted mine !

i brought the bastuc smooth stainless boost pipes- basically same as samcos but solid and shiney so principle is the same

would reccommend getting a fitting kit - basically hell to fit if you dont have one

you will need 2 blanking plugs - u get 1 in the fitting kit so you need to buy another

basically look on the end of the airbox intake pipe to find the black plastic cr*ppy std re circ dump valve. - best if you remove the battery and tray.

loosen the clips that hold it on with pliers and it basically pops out. use 1 blanking plug on this hole - ensure a good tight fit and re use the same clip to secure.
next trace the vacume pipe (thinner one) to back of throttle assembly and remove by the same method as before.
then remove other end of fat pipe !!! from side of intercooler and remove pipe and orig dv.
next - all i did was cut about 2" length of orig DV fat pipe and put 2nd blanking plug in and re secure to intercooler using orig clip.
then its just a case of removing the shockingly bad standard boost pipes and replaceing with smaco's with DV on !!

MAKE SURE ALL JUBILEE CONNECTORS ARE TIGHT !!!!

i installed bluefinn at the same time so the reprogram recognised my DV - thus bypassing the stalling issue
you can do the same by as you removed the battery, the car will go into learn mode upon reconnection and will learn you have the atmos DV.
it will stall for the first 50 miles, but will stop doing so after that

this is only how i did it and i have had no probs - am by no means a pro, just trying to help

The car is designed to run a DV to protect the turbo so its not a "no no" to run one, but you are better sticking to a recirc DV rather than an atmospheric one.

The RS runs rich as standard - running an atmospheric DV like the DV26 compounds this and tends to cause overfueling - ultimately this could result in loss of power and bore wash.

Because the ECU doesnt get the air back into the system when the DV dumps it overcompensates and the car can stall. What I found was aslong as you let it relearn its idle and dont drive it like a plank it wont stall

If you boot it right up to a junction and dip the clutch at high revs making the DV go whoosh WILL almost always stall the car - drive normally its fine.

I hope this clears things up a bit for you.

Agreed, the car drives loads better without the atmos one on but hell i love the noise.

Only time i have a problem is when i start the engine from cold and reverse, i find i have to give it some gas or it likes to cut out lol

Graham Goode give instruction for fitting an atmospheric dump valve, I fitted the GGR one it cost me £150 for the valve and another £70 for the take off pipe.
My FRS does stall occasionaly on dipping the clutch at junctions but the GGR instruction tells you to raise the idle speed by adjusting the throttle idle adjuster screw. This will invalidate your Ford warrenty but if you want to avoid stalling it's what you have to do. Having said that it doesn't happen to all cars, it's different in every car. I havn't adjusted mine yet but I'm still undecided as to stay with atmospheric or go back to recirc.

What gives the best performance? Can you notice?
