Default Fuel cell in the boot for a road / track car - safe or not ?

been wondering how safe these fuel cells are when theyre mounted in the boot or in the spare wheel wells of mainly road but also track cars in the event of a rear end impact.

are they safe or really dangerous and should be mounted in the centre (where back seats used to be) ?

its not a matter of how safe it is

more you want to mount it where the rear seats used to be so its infront of the rear beam or the weigh can cause the rear to bob and you dont want that

Whats the advantage of a fuel cell over the standard one? Surely the standard one is in the optimum position [central and low]??

I would personally NEVER EVER put anything fuel related in or near the spare wheel well of a car.

If you see what happens to that area in a shunt you will understand why.

As close to the centre and as low as practicably possible is the ideal position.
