And the bugger keeps cutting out
It was doing this before I had the engine out but I put it down to a loose boost pipe, but its still doing it now. I’m thinking its a petrol blockage as you can start the car but after a few seconds it cuts out then if I try and start it straight away it wont, you have to leave it a min or two
Anybody got any suggestions?
Oh and it’s a RS turbo engine

i know in the old sierras the carbon canistor/ fuel seperator thing used to play havoc, the car would run for 10 mins then cu-out.. and you had to leave it for a few minutes before it would even start again. Basically it was just bypassed and it ran fine.
might have absolutely nothing to do with your problem but it's just an idea.

10 mins would be about 9.30 miniutes longer than mine wants to run
if you touch the accelarator pedal it cuts out straight away as well. Think its to do with the thing which the fuel passes through before going into the fuel filter, can anybody tell me what this is/does? Thanks

well the ones i've had in the 1.8 CVH Sierra's have three hoses like i said, but probably the same thing. I just bypassed it and the engine ran fine . A lot of taxi's round about here used to do the same.
I'm not entirely sure what it's for though lol, but it doesn't seem to affect the running of the engine in any way apart from preventing it from cutting out

Please Help
Located the problem with the car cutting out
When I start the car with the air filter removed and slightly press the butterfly thingy down the car keep running, I push it a little harder and it idles faster. Does this mean that the car is over fueling badly? and is it normal for the butterfly to sit slighty proud of the lip inside the throttle body? Hope that all makes sence
Thanks in advance
So close yet so far !

air flow meter will need resetting as the it will be set for an old knckered engine not a fully rebuilt 1. if it runs when you press the flap down slightly that means it is underfuelling so you need to richen the mixture by turning the 3mm alen key clockwise.
