And your a man that know how important a PROPER cage is martin cage prices can go up Ł3000, it all takes time. a WRC car has around 500hours alone spent on the shell prep(cage and seam welding), I'd love to invoice that

I only paid Ł260 for the brand new cage. The wonders of e-bay. Maybe I should have looked in to how much it would cost to fit before I clicked "bid"

Cheers for the pm Danny I'll be in touch. The end are profiled apparently.

Is there anything else prep wise I need to know before having it fitted? Would you paint it after its been fitted?

It also has the front sections that go through to the struts, I pressume you have to cut a hole trough the bulkhead for them?

Would a competant qaulified welder be able to fit or is it only a job for motorsport type folk?

Steel is relatively cheap.what your paing for is time, labour and skill.

Sounds like very good price to me....to be honest If i'd known I could get a weld in cage for Ł750 I wouldn't have paid Ł400 for my bolt in jobbie!!

the cage doesn't come back painted, only fitted. the quality of the install is down to the cage and not me either as I haven't bent the cage, the welds will be good and it will be square in the car.
car will need to be stripped as much as possible to avoid any extra cost in labour.

As far as anyone having a go a fitting a weld in cage, yes it could be done but if done wrong you will come off worst in an accident than if you didn't have a cage so just think back to reasons for wanting a cage.
