If theres a big car sales lot near you, like a usedcar supermarket, or one of those big sites with rows and rows of 6 month old Vectra's and Focusesses - Try ringing them and askin if they have any trade ins for a couple of hundred quid.
If you do it on a Monday, they're bound to have a load of old shit that was Px'd over the weekend.
I did this for a lad at work, turned up 2 or 3 with some tax and test for less than £250.
Sniffy bastard turned his nose up at them all!!

Oh yeah, you could try an auction or a salvage auction. Some of the older cars have just had a little knock and go for peanuts.
Dont bother with Autotrader - theyre ads cost more than the cars you're looking for.
Whereabouts in the country are you?
