Default how hard to fit a bolt in cage?

how much involved? do you just bolt the points to the floor/subframe? or does it have to be welded?

you need to weld strengthening plates to the chassis in the positions where the roll cage is going to be bolted, straightforward if youre able to weld or have a mate who can

no probs

yeah its stripped at the moment while we weld the multipoint cage in, should be painted in the next month with a bit of luck its not a turbo yet, going to build the zetec engine once the chassis/interior/exterior is complete... ages away

have you got the cage or are you looking to buy ?

Anyone know if Safety Devices are up and running again yet?

I heard they were relocating to Poland for the manufacturing side of the business..

I'm after a bolt in cage for my Golf but from what I've seen the OMP and Sparco are pretty shite, Roll centre look 'ok' or it's a Wiechers from Germany.

When I enquired about an SD cage before (should've got the bast... there and then) they can supply with X rear diagonal and harness bars welded in which would be nice.

As I say, out of all the bolt in cages I've seen the SD are the best fit and quality, but as I also said, they aren't making them at the moment.

when i was looking to buy a cage about 2-3 months ago Safety Devices were in the process of starting production again, so i would imagine they are up and running now, but couldnt say for sure. they have a gppd reputation for fit and quality, but ive not seen one personally.

I'll get in touch with Peter Lloyd rallying after the holidays as they seem to be able to sell them cheaper than Safety Devices themselves

Couple of lads I know bought them from PLR about 15% cheaper than going direct to SD.

Safety devices havent started producing them still.

Ive asked and no one seems to know what the hold up is!

The OMP one i bought for the Fez is ok but i prefer the SD cage i have in the 3dr.

Been in contact with Julian from Balance motorsport last week who has been trying to get Safety Devices whipped into shape and actually sell their product

What I really wanted was a SD 6 point cage with optional X diag and harness bar. Julian's had a load of grief trying to get it sorted for me and SD are just not playing ball with timescales on something that isn't 'the norm' - you would expect a reformed company would bend over backwards to get business, doesn't seem the case . Could be anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months..

So, ended up with a standard full 6 point cage with single fixed diagonal and door bars (fits sunroof equipped mk2 Golf) which is already made and going to be shipped from Belgium hopefully within 7 working days.
