Default Speeding on M6 Toll?????

What are the legal implications of speeding on the M6 toll, is it classed as a road or private property?

Think this was discussed a couple of days ago mate. I stopped reading after a few posts but the general consensus seemed to be that speed limits are not really enforced....

Has anyone ever actually heard of there ever being a speedtrap on it though?

the law certainly applies to any "public place" even if its only accessable on foot.

I once got prosecuted for dangerous driving in a tescos car park (at a cruise years ago, the same of it )
I tried to argue it wasnt a road, they said it was a "public place" and that road laws therefore applied.

I argued that as the carpark was shut off by police at the time it wasnt a public place, they said that accesable on foot still counted and it was only cars they were stopping coming in.

But the M6 is ONLY for paying users and not the public isnt it?

so that seems different.

has anyone actually been done or REALLY know anyone done for speeding as honestly ive never seen a car doing less that 90 on there, most are doing over a ton

so no urban legends or " my mates brothers cats first owners girlfriends school teacher got done for speeding on there" type comments

btw a public place is anywhere that the public can FREELY access,,,,,,,, so thats a good argument

also said the M6 is regulated LIKE other motorways, doesnt say its actually patrolled and i know that the M6 toll has a land rover on it that patrols there

maybe its not like a normal road then

i asked te woman on the toll booth (after pullin 150 ) she told me no speed cameras but there are monitering cameras, but she said the police do patrol. as its a public highway it is covered by national speed limits.

by the way if anyone finds a saff front indicator on there its mine

are peppipoo that good if they are not sure about endorsing a no british licence

even i know that the licence rules state that he wont recive points on his licence BUT will have a ghost licence as such and i he breaks the same laws he faces the same circumstances, : ie banned from driving in the country if he commits the relevent offence)

but he can go home and still drive as they dont recongnise our laws there

i wonder about that site at times tbh

isnt it just the same a something like the dartford bridge? there is a 50 limit over that, although i have NEVER seen any police patrolling it. i do the journey about 3 times a week at night.

From what i understand the owners of the road can request Police to patrol the road and any law broken is dealt with the same way as it would be normally. Privatly owned or not if it used by the public then highway laws apply.
