Phoned my insurance Co up to see what would happen if I go Zetec Turbo on the FRST.

£166 extra to insure the car

Thought it would be a shitload more than that. The old ZT is starting to look more promising now

 

Now you say that I really haven't thought about my insurance yet. I wonder what they are going to say

Oranoco how much are you already paying on the fiesta?

i had a quote ages ago from HIC for my RS, cage, stripped out, 300bhp zetec etc etc, trackday cover, european cover, legal protection, agreed value 5k, this was £1050 is this a good price? bearing in mind im only 24

wonder how much it'll go up as if i up the agree'd value and engine spec considerably.

 

For what its worth, I pay somewhere around £350 TPFT with HIC which includes a £50 ish charge to have cover to drive other vehicles too (this is with agreed value of 5k as well). Thats my ERST with zetec, all mods declared, 3 points and 3 years NCB (was 6 years until i had a claim this yr ). Im 24 too....

the most important factor on your insurance quote is the postcode. this is always why you will have identical people, with identical cars that can pay totally different amounts

for example

my old renault 19 insured at home (london) 1000!!!!!!!
inasured at uni (loughborough) 650 quid!!!!!!!
my mate bought it off me same ncb, and driving experience, age etc......insured at his place 10 mins down the road £1300!!!!!

HIC said my RS16i was group 17 too

 

just got my insurance for my standard sapphire cosworth, with tesco's. im 24 with 6yrs NCB and they only want £298.49... i think thts good???

 

An rs turbo is group 14 or 15 if I recall rightly.
I think the Fiesta turbo was group 15 and the escort rs turbo was group 14.

 

The Fiesta in insured as is for £550 FC with an agreed value.

I think it was the roll cage that upped the Escort's premium But that was still sub £600 FC with track day cover and an agreed value

 

I got a quote for my ERST with all mods listed (brakes, wheels, etc...) with a zetec producing 320 bhp and had a quote of £657.75 FC which I thought wasnt toooo bad.

For a standard RST the best quote I had was for £292 F/C.

 

Out of interest when i go to insure mine what did you tell them? E.g. A 2.
1 turbo engine conversion? Or just quote power upgrade an engine size etc...
