Default Intercoolers...single pass, double pass, top to bottom???

hi peeps, just looking into intercoolers at the moment and was wondering what the difference between single pass, double pass etc was?

Was i right in hearing that double pass intercoolers suffer from pressure drop?

also i was looking at the Pro Alloy intercooler which runs from top to bottom...does that make any difference to the effiency of the cooler?

thanx peeps

it makes amassive difference!!
here's why..
having the core tubing running vertical allows you to have many more cooling tubes (the space is wider than it is high)
because you have so many tubes you can have a thinner core (this allows better air flow to the water radiator)
as the in and out 'tanks' run along the top and bottom of the cooler, you can have the inlet and outlet in the standard place- the only other way to do this is to have a 'double pass' intercooler, this is where the in and out tanks are on the left and right side and you divide the right hand side tank into two to enable the in and out tube to go on the same side- this effectively halves the flow rate........does that make sense???
