engine experts! synthetic or mineral oil to run in new cam?
just had fitted a new standard cam and lifters to my series 1 rst, i'm using mobil 1 motorsport at the mo just wondering if i need to change back to a mineral oil for running the new cam in?
Thanks steve

Stu, i think he is asking what oil to run in the engine as well as the lube you obvioulsy put on the cam when you install them.
I would say normal engine oil for the engine as i wouldnt want to run an engine for 20 mins at 3000rpm on the wrong oil.
Thats what ive always done anyway and never had a problem

To elaborate slightly on my first reply...
Just run whatever oil you always run on your tuners advice, but make sure its clean, if its not, renew it. As well as your regular oil, also smear the new parts in camlube or camcote. Most importantly, dont let teh revs drop below 2500rpm if possible for the first 20mins of teh cams life
