hi all

I maybe be looking at a 4x4 sapphire cosworth this week and was wondering how well they drive.I have had 3 2wd cosworths (1 3dr and 2 sapphires) and was wondering how much you notice the power loss through the 4wd system and any other differences,as ive heard the escos 4x4 is a bit agricultaral to drive.Anyone who has owned both please comment on your experiences

you will notice it drives very smooth....if it rains or not..its till 100mph not much slower then the 2wd's.....maybe nothing...

 

not had a 2wd but i don't think the the 4wd cars drive a bit agricultaral.

Well i have one and have drove plenty 2wd cossies, the 2wd is a hoot and tail happy but u can really have the confidence with the grip u have with the 4x4 ,its a top motor in my opinion mate ,especially if ur out in the rain having a blast !!

 

The 4x4 sapph is deffo the best driver of all the cosworths imo,not as much fun as the 2wd but then not everyone is into going sideways anyway..

They don`t feel particularly slower than the 2wd car either,and are very stable...

The drivetrain is a problem if you want to go big power,but is fine upto about 330bhp which is most peoples favourite conversion anyways...

You definitely wouldnt be dissapointed i reckon....

 

I find that you dont really need 4x4,and tbh its just more to go wrong.But on the upside....

The cornering is very good and the straight line stability is really something,mine is steady as a rock at 160,and its shown a few elises and caterhams the way home through the twisties,especially through sweeping corners its really quite suprising the speeds that can be acheived in a pretty old car.
Just make sure all the suspension and tyres are in good order and a front and rear strut brace really helps.

The only real down side is the gear box which isnt as nice as the 2wds.

 

Love my 4x4 Saff, and the 4x4 will drift too if you want it!
