Stick a wideband sensor up it mate.

But lean on a N/A car isnt quite the same as on a turbo car, very common for a turbo car to be running in the 12s or even 11s but N/A tend not to drop that low even when accelerating.

with a lambda sensor or other exhaust gas analyser

the colour of the plugs or exhaust pipe can give you a clue, but that is a combination of mixture and ignition timing so you have to know what you're looking at. also depends on the last running condition.

thats a point, you can plug chop a N/A car... you wouldnt dare do that on a turbo motor

You wont get anything very useful out of the narrow band sensors.

Where are you based?

If you are in the south of england i can probably pop round and give you a hand with it using my wideband setup?

or use a gunson colourtune - a see through spark plug that allows you to see the combustion colour that indicates the mixture. bit tricking at speed though
