Other than watching the rev counter needle move. I have 2 or 3 sensors kicking about including 1 brand new one but now I'm wondering if its picking up a signal from the flywheel. How can I tell?

Checking for the signal is not straight forward without some proper tools. Oscilloscope is the proper tool for the job, but a handy person can use a laptop's microphone input for the same thing.
The signal should roughly look like this:

Thanks again JT, yes I did try that and no luck still. Only option now i think is to replace the main loom, all the components have been replaced including the under bonnet loom and still nothing. Thanks for your earlier advice too, u gave me a good few things to try that I'd not have known
Also would I be right in thinking the CPS reads a missing tooth to make a pulse rather than 1 sender attached to the flywheel?

Have replaced coil pack, ecu, crank sensor edis module and underbonnet loom with no joy so far

sounds like the ecu isnt switching on.
either an earth or there is an engine running wire from the incar loom that links to the engine loom, just bypass this wire so its on all the time and then try it

Have you checked the wire that goes from EDIS to the crank sensor. This takes a lot of chaking and heat and can get damaged.
The system is so simple, so the fault must be something simple too.
