James,

Just to point out, the S1 already has a very similar set up to this anyway so won't really "upgrade" the S1. It would upgrade any other Mk3 or 4 though (gearbox mounting permitting on a Mk4).

they are a touch better than the S1 version. its lighter for a start plus its all one piece compared to the three bit cast iron one of the S1. the arms are ball joint types compared to the rubber bushes so another small improvement of the S1. the roll bar is hollow and thicker than the solid one on the S1. apparently hollow ones are ment to be stronger.

not massive differences but worth the investment for all those track day slags

Do you have to use S1 track control arms? or can you use S2 arms?

Matt.

The S1 has sperical rose joints, not bushes mate.

The alloy has obvious advantages in weight. They stopped using it and went onto the S1 set up due to some legislation of crash testing IIRC...

Not sure about the ARB. I can't see a hollow tube having better torsional stress threshold over a solid bar. The tube will have a very good compression strength though.

You can use the S2 arms mate, which are actually better cos they should have sperical rose joints in the ends that bolt to the chassis where as the S1 used bushes.

ive got both sitting at home and the S1 as got rubber bushes on it unless the like the inner ball joints found on the S2 TCAs.

Id use adjustable TCAs if you can afford it, you could have a practically perfect set up then. RSNUTs uses a very similiar set up for his rally car

The joint has a rubber boot over them on both sides...If it has bushes then it is not an S1 joint.

I just wish it'd fit over the damn cradle

Mind you, not put it against it to find out - worth a go at local garage?
