Get the gaitor out the way and hit the back of the joint with a hammer thats the only way they come off, you'll have fun trying to get it back on though.

hold the shaft in one hand and hit the back of the cv joint with a hammer so that the whole joint come's off the shaft, forget about the retaining clip you can see you dont touch that

330cossie,

tried hitting the cv/hub outwards but i cant hold it enough.it feels like i will pull it out of the gearbox end.i presume there is another clip holding the shaft in there.dont want to have to do that boot and joint to if i pull it out.

it seems stuck,i have got the retaining clip off the shaft at disc end now.

Just a thought but you have got the cv joint out from the hub end (normally dropping the bottom ball joint to do this)

try holding the disk and giving it a good pull outwards, mine just poped out that way i no its a differant car but sounds like the same with a l;ittle clip that holds it in , haynes told me to put a screwdriver in and bang it , but thats a load of crap .. a guy off here told me what iv told you and it came out real easy, and put it back in the same way, just feel for the splines and give it a gentle push forward..works a treat mate

First of all Rob i dont know how you got the retaining clip out with the cv joint still in situe but seeing as you have there's nothing to stop the joint from coming off the shaft,as i said before it's just a case of persueding it with a heavy hammer,if you make sure the cv joint is straight like in the first picture when you hit it it will come off,it's obviously being stuborn like most female's but persistance will pay off

p.s if the hammer in the second picture is the one your using you will have trouble, get yourself a club hammer, you need to use something with a bit of wieght to it.

Rob when you do get the joint off your question will be answered,i think you'll find that the cv joint must of moved as you were able to get the clip out, but you will need to put the clip back in it's locating groove on the driveshaft before the cv joint goes back on.

Good luck m8 n let us know how you get on,
will check post when i get back from ford fair.
