Default WHY are saphire cossie drivers so blinkered!!???

As title why do you guys think that the only car that is any good in that bracket that is any good, when now you can pick up much nicer looking and faster cars which are newer for the same money or less than a shopping trolley???
This is being discussed on another thread at the mo but i thought i would start one for this topic
you guys are nearly as bad as R5gt drivers

there are no other cars in the same "class" imho...

you get a lot of car for your money, and not much will touch em for the same money...

examples please.

and all this from a fwd shopping trolley driver

for me, it's the combination of relatively bland looks and performance that makes them great cars. also they're simple and cheap to tune/maintain/repair.

What car can you get for the same cash with the same potential performance (for the money spent on tuning) as a saff cossie?
Nothing! (Never owned one, got a skyline, but im not stupid enough to agree)

And Reno5GTT have been running 12sec 1/4s for years with 1.4 8v engines, running standard crank, rods, manifolds, and often even std cams or totaly std bottomend, on roadlegal tyres, road fuel, and no nitrous, so that argument is a bit shit too
(And no, they not unreliable like people think, only when not looked after, jus like a RST, belive me, ive owned a few...)

Cheapest way into cossie ownership and if you don't listen to the bellends with "shopping trolley" comments it's all good. Saphs are better built than 3dr's, and the escorts are better built than saphs, who fookin cares? Saphs look the meanest fromt he fron IMO

Saff cossies owners win that me thinks

it's bacially a street sleep as standard.

as it donesn''t stand out like a ferrari or 3dr or esco cossie,

yet will waste or at least give VERY fast cars a run for their money

I don't think it's blinkered there really aren't many other options that allow you to go as quick for the money. A good Saph Cossie is in the same Price bracket as an Imprezza. The Cossie is cheaper and easier to tune and doesn't feel the need to eat piston 3 at the drop of a hat.

What else is there? An earlier Evo perhaps is the only other option I can see that's in the same catagory that genuinely delivers the goods

Spose you could get a Rover 620Ti but then that's just being stupid isn't it

IMO YB Cosworth engines are the cheapest engine to tune (and get proper power)in the world bar none! What other engine can give you around 310-320 bhp for roughly £800? (Greens, 3bar, chip + exhaust)

Only very early EVOs are similar price, and only EVO3s look good, 2s and 1s look gay as fuck.

Tuning wise they dont come close tho, power for pound, nowhere near.

Nissan sunny Gtir, Fiat coupe, evo, subaru, mr2 turbo, celica gt4.......just off the top of my head, i know my car is a bean tin and now with hindsight i wouldnt have spent the money i have spent i would have saved for the 5 years i have owned it and been the proud owner of a nice tiptronic carrera 2.
i mean whenever a post starts about another car saph drivers all say in unison i nailed one the other day, yes but numpties they look better, have more appeal to the opposit sex and cost the same or less for a newer car and if bot5h were standard are faster

S2 are only common if you live in essex!
I total agree with most of the people here when they say you really cant get more for your money (performance wise) shame the base models etc were adopted my the cab drivers

oh and dont say what other car can you tune to etc etc because its a little predictable and BORING, im talkin out of the box looks handling and speed THERE ARE BETTER CARS FOR LESS MONEY, mind you most of the saph drivers you see in mags and at shows are overweight and bald so you wouldnt really suit a sporty looking car

Nissan sunny Gtir, Fiat coupe, evo, subaru, mr2 turbo, celica gt4
only 2 of which have the 4 door practicality of a sapph, and NONE are as cheap to tune or the sleeper looks

lol if you think those cars are nicer

ask anyone here who owns a saph if they bought it because it looks good (PGTIPS dont count )

saphs look like boats

as everyone has said for the money you wont get a faster car

fiat coupes are shite and prices are rediculous and there fwd

mr2 turbos handle like there on a aquaplane test track and due to the lack of space for an intercooler have limited tuning potential

old subarus are now cheap but stil lcost a lot more to tune and expensive to rebuild when the engine goes pop

as steve said the evo you can get for saph money is shite and still has limited tuning potential for £

the only 2 decent cars on your list are the pulsar gtir and the celica GT4

but there still jap and still cost a lot more and they look worse than my saph especially those box car pulsars

ok so............your average saph 3-4k + 800 for Stage 3 for a realistic 310bhp

Nissan sunny Gtir..............really slow after about 60
Fiat coupe........not as fast as you tihnk, my mates got one, and i used to beat it im my RST.
evo............yes maybe, but only a really early one and no match for a 330 bhp cossy
subaru................same as GTIR
mr2 turbo.........hahaahhaaha
celica gt4..........dont make me laugh.

you show me a car with over 330 bhp for 4k? that can match the performance of a saph.

the best bit about Saphs is that if you write it off, you can make a phat profit from breaking it anyway!

5-7k for one

you been looking on ebay to much. 7k will get you a mint 400bhp cossy like mine was! rebuilt, resprayed, rims, suspenstion everything!

and that would absloutely kill everything on that list!

granted saph arent the best looking, but the all round package is superb, comfortable, room for 4 people easily, and boot space, cheap to buy, cheap compared to other on that list to repair, cheap to tune.

YOU CANT BEAT IT!
