BIG UP TOYO PROXES R888s!!! They are awesome road legal cut slicks - well recommended for trackday fans - they transformed my car - pics before and after:

Wear out a little quickly, but well worth it
Just thought I'd say hi to all the peeps I met today (Sean Bicknell (Sam says thanks again for the high speed passenger ride), Eagle, Tiff Needell
, SJoyce666, Dave Cos4x4 (RIP Escos
) etc etc)
Thanks to all at the Bristol and Swindon RSOC for putting on another belting show - Coombe is an ace venue - something for everyone with the track action, show and concours plus all the traders and club stands. Just a thought - it took me 90 mins to get signed on (and I was in the smallish que at 8.15am) and I got just 4 sessions on track despite being in the que for track all day (9.45am till 4.30pm ish.)
Can you please get more people to sign everyone in, or maybe post out signing in forms with track passes to cut down the lengthy process. Sound testing should have been done in the queing area like they do at the CCC Action days - I couldn't even get my mate to do that till I had signed on, wasting more time. I know you're volunteers doing all that work for our benefit (
), but the delays really spoil an otherwise perfectly run day.
If anyone got any pics of my car can you PM them to me - apparently it was flaming a lot - hope someone got a pic of that??
My car was this one = flint grey Saph 4 x 4
My best lap time 1.24 - anyone else get any times for their cars?

And here's why the paint looks so bad now - anyone remember the Crealy mud (Devon Group show, blighted by heavy showers)?

That mud has gone, but the fertiliser/crap in it has eaten the laquer away everywhere you can see mud. Wonder what the hell they put down on that field.
Very sorry to see Dave's Escort crash out after entertaining everyone at Camp corner with his sideways driving style - he was fine afterwards, beer in hand and talking about possible future projects - watch this space!!!
Bugger I go on and on and on, so I'll wave bye
For anyone that missed it - be there next year!! Roll on Hampshire RSOC day next weekend, Ford Fair and National Day for more track action

As soon as they're gone completely I'll be in touch Marco. Having tried these I NEED some full slicks for my new track wheels (when I've worked out what they are!!)
I used to run Nangkang Ditchfinders before, and the transformation made the Ł385 I spent well worth it!
Rich, shame I didn't get on track during any of your sessions, cos your MR2 looked quick in the dry (bet you're glad it wasn't raining - those cars seem twitchy at the best of times
)
Heard about Sean's car having a few 'niggles' (if you're connected to Zoo that all it will be!), like his clutch hose splitting / leaking on session 1, and later something to do with a lunched engine due to cam belt / pulley issues... when it was running it was doing 1:22 on the first outing of the day, with more in reserve (according to my friend who blagged shotgun)
Track days are ace, but they take it out hard on the cars....

Lamb chops - Toyo R888s in 205/40/17s are Ł385 for a set of 4 from Topgear Tyres. Christian from APT sell them as well and will do mail order- check out the traders parts.
If you're after full slicks off a Touring Car (I think?) Marco is your man - think they're nearer Ł40 a corner, if you PM him with the size you're after I'm sure he can sort a set out.
How much is a baffled sump likely to cost and who's best to get one from? For my 4 x 4 Sapphy Cos. I think a clue may be in the siggy strip of the last poster....

I would like to add a thankyou for the day, BUT the slightly changed format did not help the day run smoother.. it was far worse than previous years sadly.
Space for track users was way to small, but club stands (a few of whome were empty all day) occupied the whole paddock. Come on.. leave some space for us track users who need hard standing to change wheels, jack the car up etc. Parking in the car park is not an option no matter how many times you tell people.
Managed just one session all morning. Queued solidly from 11.20 till 2pm for 2nd go. Not good enough folks.. Sorry but it is'nt.
Either too many bookings or too few cars on track or combination of both. I'm sure we had more cars out at once last year and it was great!
Thanks for the efforts, but please go back to your winning formula from previous years tho eh?
cheers
Bill

Ditto what Bill said - your car was fast as usual
. I just saw you coming and pulled out of the way - then tried racing you down the straight and next corner.
Failed abismally
Shame not everyone on track understood the PULL OVER FOR FASTER CARS bit mentioned in the briefing
I had one near off due to misinterpreting a slower (Track day only Cossie!!) as he pulled tight to the left (thought he was giving me room to pass, then he turned in), landed up overtaking him by driving straight over the chicane (and not down the escape road, I literally mean straight over the grass and kerbs)
Also overtook one red Mk5 RS2000 when he didn't see me overtaking him and pulled out to overtake a blue kit car thing (I was hammering past at the time). I got past him with all 4 wheels on the grass running into Camp corner (poss 80+mph?) - the in car video footage is quite amusing - managed to keep it in a straigt line and honk my horn at him!!
I found one Golf driver and had a great dice with him in the first session due to a missfire - I could only just keep up with him down the straights and he knew the lines round the corners - all credit to those who can drive well on track
Cars of the day for me -
V8 engined MGB,
Badger5's Seat
Sean's Exige (the only cars that overtook me
)
Shame there weren't enough sessions to race some of the other pukka cars - Porkie's 3 door, Norris Evo, and the WRC car for example, roll on the next track day!
Cheers Si

As mentioned above - the incident was my misinterpretation of the situation - which is why I apologised to the owner concerned at the end of that session. Thankfully no harm done and lesson learned by me
My rant about people not pulling over for faster cars still stands however, as overtaking is invariably risky at the best of times! During my briefing the instructor clearly advised that there were no BLUE flags to worn of faster drivers, but that slower drivers should allow room for faster drivers to pass. To those that indicated and pulled over for me (as I did for 3 others), TA

!!The briefing said pass on the right... which some drivers made impossible by driving on the right hand side edge of the track FFS...
Short of taking to the infield how are you supposed to pass a car driving on the inside edge of the track? and what are they doing driving there anyhows? DUH!
white escort RS and blue caterfield thing are 2 such cars which spring to mind. white 'scort on the flag lap at Camp, and I get pulled at the end by marshall telling me I overtook on the left.. FFS, given the 40+mph closing speed of mine to the escort into Camp, and him nibbling the inside edge of the track, chequered flag comes out as we enter corner, I back off, we go round corner together, but opposite sides of the track, and I get a bollocking.. (muppets!) - Marshall was wrong and got told so in no uncertain terms.
Then pulled for sound.. 95dbA (98dbA day was'nt it!) passed as usual, but they were trying to make a point.. No idea what it was other than my car was quieter than limit, but louder than some.
Combe gets worse and worse....
I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

Heres the best of the photos featuring you (or H-ETA), that I took - (click on the thumbnail to enlarge). The flamer was working a treat as ever also - but didn't manage to get any of those. There are more pics on my pc but these here are the best considering I was learning the new camera! Will let you have them on cd when i next see ya in person..

Cheers Jamie, much appreciated.
Have saved the pics, but if you can do the CD too that would be cool.
On his photo post Phil has some amusing multi shot pics of my car - sadly doing what a 4 x 4 does best and venturing off road! oops.
Hoped someone might have got a flame piccy?
See you at the next Exmouth or wherever meeting
