Default Cant start the car now

The first few weeks of ownership seem to be a struggle for me lol

I am now having trouble starting the car.

The alarm / immobilser is not working as the led is not flashing and the car engine cranks over it just does not fire up.

I have noticed that there is no power on the 1st or second stage of ignition except for the fact the engine cranks over (i.e. stereo, lights, clock, fan etc do not work at all)

Anyone got any ideas? I have tried cleaning all the terminals etc, and looking for loose wires etc but no luck.

I have also noticed that the battery light and the oil light are perminantly on even if the keys are not in the car.

thanks in advance guys as I really wna t to get the problems sorted asap as I want to drive the car as it is such a good example (minus the few problems I am having )

Check the Blue wire that connects onto the alternator, look for it being loose or broken anywhere. That would prob cause the lights on the dash staying on.This would also stop the engine from starting.
A mate of mine has the same problem as you and thats what it turned out to be.

If you need a new wire i have a spare one in my garage

Thanks mate just tried moving the wire around and it has made my car start,

Still not quite right as the side lights are perminantly on even when the car is completly off.

Will take it to an auto place next week to get the fault ironed out unless any one has any ideas on what it is?

thanks I am nearly smiling again

I did think that it could be a switch just odd it failed at the same time as my other electrical problems.

Oh well I will take it off and have a go at repairing it or try and source a new one.

Cheers for the help by the way this site is great for people suggesting whats wrong.
