Default Bailey Dump valve

Ive just fitted a Bailey DV24 dump valve to my 3door. I have noticed that it can injest foreign material into the trottle body when its open at idle. IT also has a rather annoying whoosh. Does anyone know of any way of filtering the air going in and making the whoosh quieter? icon_wink.gif

it should not be open on idle. you must adjust it. propably nothing you can do about the noise.

Surely the valve opens under manifold vacuum, which is present at idle. If you adjust so it doesnt open under idle vacuum (20Hg approx) then it surely wont open any other time??? My understanding was the valve closes when you start making positive pressure........does anyone else have any views on this?

i've got a DV24 on mine and is meant to have the piston open on idle... then shuts when you accelerate. with the car idling open the throttle butterfly slightly to rev the engine and you'll see the piston come back down.

therefore it is possible for debris to go in... only real alternative is to get a group-A type valve which has a filter built into it, and they tend to be a bit quieter too!!

Who makes the Group A ones mate?.

I have a DV24 and am also slightly apprehensive about idleing on a dusty road and basically sucking dusty shit into the throttle body.
Makes me wonder what my Air Filter is for

Forge Motorsport, Spec-R and Graham Goode Racing all make good Group-A dump valves...

if you're bothered about your dv being open on idle

buy a Blow Off Valve, such as a GReddy or a HKS

BOV's stay closed on idle, so dont suck in any nasty bits

ive got a GReddy type S on my saph, works a treat.
