You need good oil. That is first thing. There may be shit 10W60 and very good 10W50.

If I wereto reccomend something it would be Castrol TWS 10W 60 (the BMW one not RS 10W60) or Motul 300V series - either Chrono 10W40 or Competition 15W50 (I'm channging to that) or if you use it in competition situations LE Mans 20W60

I have no idea. I never heard of it but I live ~2000km's from you. There are some locl brands I wouldn't know. If it's synthetic oil, based on PAO/Esther base oil then it's probably good

Yep. Back in early 90's it was the best performance oil around. Now it's shit. If you wan't I can get you photos of all the dirt found in Sunny GTi engine run on RS from new. Castrol basically cheapened the production process.

Power of the marketing I suppose. Here it's the same, most people still belive in Castrol even though there are much better oils for the same price - like Motul.

I always run 10W 40 semi, its much better at high constant revs (constant 140mph) i found fully synthetic to thin out like water and loose a lot of its lubricating properties (dab of oil between fingers and rub, felt more like glue)

Kind of strange way of thinking. I can assure you WRC cars are constantly high reved and they run fully synthetic. E.g. works Impreza WRC runs Motul 300V Chrono 10W40 http://www.motul.com/motulbaseuk/gab_fiche2.asp

Yeah, but look at the oil system: Dry sump, huge oil coolers, etc etc

All i got is a half litre oil cooler, plus running semi sticks to the inside of the engine better.

This is just personal experiance on my part, fully synthetic is that bad in my engine that after a hot fast run i pull the dupstick out and the oil doesn't even stick to it, its just bare and unlubricated.

Is it only your impression form looking at oil or was there some real engine damage?

I am strongly convinced that you are simply werong. Synthetic based oil's are termically more stable and avalible in different visosities. Of course you can buy shit synth oil. But look at the Motul range which I know quite well. you've got here oil's from 0W20 for HIGH RPM!!!! to 20W60 for endurance racing. This are oils that can stand extreme temperatures over 130 degrees and loose much less of their qualities with time. For any mineral or hydrocraked oil (semi-synth) you can find synthetic oil taht can substitiute it with better qualities. Nowdays there are even synthetic oils for historic cars.

Well obviously i have no real proof of my experiances, i just know what i see and feel. Hot fully synthetic goes extremely runny, and has a sticky/watery feel to it between my fingers whereas semi stays slippery.

In my eyes, my common sence tells me that sticky/runny aint no good (especially when the engine sounds like a bag of shit aswell) and medium viscosity which is slippery texture is good.

Perhaps i am wrong, but i still use semi, the engine is quieter, & it runs better

Perhabs you schould read what I've just written and what oilman written on technical forum. You can buy as thick synthetic oil as you want.
