I am strongly convinced that you are simply werong. Synthetic based oil's are termically more stable and avalible in different visosities. Of course you can buy shit synth oil. But look at the Motul range which I know quite well. you've got here oil's from 0W20 for HIGH RPM!!!! to 20W60 for endurance racing. This are oils that can stand extreme temperatures over 130 degrees and loose much less of their qualities with time. For any mineral or hydrocraked oil (semi-synth) you can find synthetic oil taht can substitiute it with better qualities. Nowdays there are even synthetic oils for historic cars.
