Default Turbo Zetec Cabrio Project

People have been asking me about my motah at meets so here ya go!

Right a little background history! In total I have owned four cars, an Escort 1.3L, Mk3 Escort Estate, the short lived XR2i and a Mk4 XR3i Cabby. I always wanted either an RST or Cabby to ride around in cus being a Romford boy it would be rude not to! But my real love affair with cabbies started when I sat in one at a scrappy he was selling. There was just something about it that made me want one, Really Badly.

One day my sister rings me up and tells me that a guy down the end of the road had up for sale a D reg XR3i Cabby for £1100. Went, had a look. Everything about the car told me it had been looked after. Infact the previous owner had been a jag mechanic and he had swapped the engine over for a new one. Despite the fact the shell had done over 100,000 miles it still looke mint. The waterproofing had been topped up regularly and there was only one real bit of rust to be found and that was as per usual around the fuel cap.

These pictures were taken the day after I got it! And yes I did get rid of the pram wheels quickly enough!

Then the usual mods went on. Stereo, airfilter. Then the header tank blew up on a hot summer day, so new thermostat and a nice bailey alloy tank. Then the manifold blew up so I wacked on a 4-2-1 Ashly manifold and a powerfolw upturned DTM 2" Zorst. And that how it stayed for a long time. Untill I was giving it large against an Si and piled it into a lamp post. So it came off road and thats how it has stayed for the last 6 months!

So now the restoration begins. But It lookes like I'll have to ditch the old shell! Cheaper to get another one than get it fixed! But thats what you get for being a prat I suppose!

But a new one might be on the way soon along with a 2.0 Zetec and Stage 2 S2 LSD gearbox! Other plans inclued using DTA fast pro engine management. Bolting a cossie T3 or maybe even a T4 to the Zetec. Removing the rear seats. The body work is going to be smoothed off (including the fuel cap wich will be relocated to inside the boot!) and given a nice re-spray. I know its going to be red, but not quite sure which shade yet! Then the usual racing graphics and maybe some Tigerstipes. Have a lot of ideas but not sure on em all yet!!

I have aquired a Zetec from the fordsport Guvnor Gary (GTechR) and is sittin in me garage quite happily until I send it away to get built! Shell (I say shell, its actually a whole car) aquired by Bazz (S1-Cabby) for me!
So the stripping of the two cars will commence soon!

So Bazz came up trums twice in a row now and managed to sort something. It arrived today and we organised everything. Decided there isn't enough space to put both cars out front, so the old one had to become the shead and be moved into garage which Bazz and a mate managed to help me out with!

Engine needin a good clean!

The old car as it is now

The "dent"

and the new car!
