changed the plugs on my series 2 as they were knackered and black
put new ones in and now it wont start,
, plenty of fuel coming through as all 4 plugs were soaked when i removed them after trying to start the car
how do i check there is a strong spark? its just me and i know how to check with 2 people, is there a way on your own.
any other reasons it wont start
i think its running way too rich but dont wanna mess with fuelling if possible
advice and help appreciated
cheers guys

have checked the leads and plugs and there is a nice strong spark on all 4 cylinder leads
right, theres petrol, and spark but it wont start
is it possible it couldhave too much fuel. i noticed when turning it over to check the spark, there was a hissing noise from no 2 cylinder and fuel bubbling around the plug edge (plug wasnt done up fully
would a car not start if it was over fuelling too much?
what next?
help me please

If it was overfueling yes it would flood. But cant see it overfueling from just changing the plugs. if worried disconnect cold star valve but dont think theres much need. it sounds like yu've knocked summit off when changing the plugs, did you touch the distributor at all, or anything else other than the plug ends of the HT leads? if one plug wasnt done up proper it may not start or struggle as no compression. . did you try it with the old plugs back in, are the gapped correctly and were they all tightened up proper? may sound daft but i'd check all of that! firstly i'd stick the old plugs back in and take it from there.
nah, it was massively overfuelling before, just hadnt got round to getting fuelling adjusted
it has been a pain in the arse to start for the last few weeks, today i took the dump valve off, replace the rocker cover gasket, and the plugs
has good spark on all four and fuel going to all 4, just wont start
havent changed, or knocked anything. removing the dump valve wouldnt make a difference would it, it was set up with the dump valve on, and the old plugs in

Removing d/v wont do anything starting wise. makesure the vacum hose is still on the ECU end secuerly. unplug the cold start valve meantime so it wont flood as easily when starting. something that MAY help, but if its already overfueling im not so sure, is when starting, get someone to hold the metering flap down a few mm (airbox off job) it may well start like this, but obv a pain if u need to start it allot, have you tried bump starting it, wont cure the prob but will atlest let you know if it is gonna start and if the problems a bit more deeper!
would try bump starting but its neatly parallel parked outside my house between 2 other cars
will change the plugs back tomorrow, the old ones are champion c59's and the new ones are ngk bcr8es
change plugs back and see if it still starts
heres hoping
cheers for the advice, have tried that metering one before, but that'll just chuck more fuel in wont it?

well it makes it run slightly richer, but my car dont move allot and when i go to start it usually need to do that to start it but it dont over fuel and ive got my Cold start valve disconected
but yea i think it would put more fuel in. can always try it if your stuck tho. if it floods it wont start for a while till the fuel runs down into the sump. Aye well try the old plugs and see how you get on. G'luck
it lives
put the old plugs in and the dump valve back on and it nearly started but not quite. then fitted the new plugs and it roared into life. cold start now unplugged, need to get it set up asap before it eats the new plugs. and take the dv off then
happy bunny now
