Default 2WD ECU experts !

Hi All I’m having some bother with my YB that’s been in a Mk2 escort for last 6 years and never missed a beat at all 👍 Till now !
It’s developed a random non start problem after been sat for 6 months it started 1st click as usual to move it in the garage and then 3 weeks wouldn’t go !
I didn’t hear the pump prime on the ignition and it had no spark at the coil had 10 mins looking over it but had to leave it for a hour then started straight away 🤯 But ran rough and very rich till it got warm but then drove 5 miles perfect
changed the usual CPS, Phase and ECT and Swopped the ECU for a my spare still same !
I’ve tested the fuel pressure at idle all ok but I’ve no pump priming with ignition live? Only primes when cranking and then starts and runs fine
So there’s no feed to the pump relay from the ECU till it cranks ? Is that normal or am I looking at ECU faults
I’m sure I read some where about the YB not priming when a sensor goes down but I can’t find it again
Any help most welcome
cheer Paul
ps it’s had a new loom a few years back and still looks like new

Pump won't prime every time, it works off crank sensor signal so sounds like they're both funtioning ok.
Have a look on bigturbo.co.uk for some further help and diagnosis, without specualting too much it could be the MAP or TP sensor but that's just a guess at this point.

if your on a old fuel pressure regulator it would be worth changing .when they fail they can cause fires at worst ,but can also leak fuel into the inlet and cause rough running and black smoke on start up

If you have lost both spark and fuel (clue is the lack of FP trigger) then the ECU is not seeing the request to synchronise and start the run sequence.
Have a look at your crank sensor gap, you say you have changed crank pos sensor, what colour is the wire? old ones were white, seen loads of issues on those, if its a black wire with white plug should be fine if new, but also there is a relay that triggers both fuel pump and coil, these sometimes get bad contacts.

yep was all black from BHP that I’ve just fitted and so was the old one I changed about 6 years ago
I’ve just checked the gap again and it still at .9mm what I set it at
I’ve swopped the relays to eliminate them too
The last 2 days it’s been starting a lot better too
Thanks for all replies it’s much appreciated as always 👍👍👍
