Default Ford sierra 2.0 dohc engine

Hi everyone

Would anyone on here be kind enough to try and help me ?
I have fitted a new timing chain to my 2.0 dohc 8v and I have followed the Haynes manual and also the info on this website .
Have the crank at 6 o'clock tdc and the cam sprockets set at a quarter 3 tdc . My engine turns over by hand 2 full turns and all marks line up to tdc . But my engine won't start .
Is there anything I'm not doing correct ? Don't want to keep cranking engine over incase I wreck it.

Really hope someone on here can help.

Thanks

Don't know anything about the DOHC 8V but it sounds like you succeeded in changing the new timing chain and setting up the engine!?

Perhaps there's something else missing. CPS not connected? Anything else maybe? Does it get fuel and a spark?

Just recently done mine. Hope these pics help.
Have you released the tensioner by pushing it down?

Hi thanks for your reply and photos of your 2.0 dohc engine . Yes I have released the chain tensioner and the engine turns over by hand so no valves hitting pistons. Engine also turns over on the starter but it just won't start . I have checked all spark plugs and I have good spark also have checked fuel coming to engine and it is getting fuel
.
In your photo of the cam sprockets timing marks are not level with the edge of the cylinder head ? Is your engine at TDC with your cams like this?

I took the wiring loom of the injectors to take engine out and not having marked the connectors I'm not sure if I have them on the right injectors .

Would you have any photos or info on this ?

The picture was taken when the engine had moved slightly when tightening the crank bolt up so the marks are not level with the head but are opposite each other at 180°.

The injector plugs are paired in the loom as 1&2 and 3&4 so you may have transposed which would explain fuel and spark but not starting. It may be worth swapping each pair over and seeing if it starts. No photos of this sorry.

As you say TDC on the crank is at 6 o'clock and the cam pulley marks should be at 9 o'clock on the inlet and 3 o'clock on the exhaust IIRC the exhaust mark should have a slight droop, this is shown in the Haynes manual.

Check plug lead order . The dizzy cap terminals are numbered so it should be easy.
