Default Both passenger footwells wet

Hi All, I have a 2012 Ford Focus Ecoboost Zetec. Both the front & rear passenger footwells are wet, basically puddles, I have used a wet vac to get all the water out and had it dry, it has since come back and I have two puddles again, I have looked at posts on here and they all talk about the boot been wet as well at same time but my boot is completely dry. I have changed all four door seals but can not fathom where the water is coming from. Has anyone had this problem before or no how to fix this.

@charlie luciano, sorry should have put that in original question, the carpet up to the bulk head is completely dry as well, it is just in the foot wells.

The reason I said that is I had a 15 reg transit connect which is basically a focus and water was pouring in up under the bulk head where at some point it had a tracker fitted which was removed, after removal the holes where it was fitted were not grommeted properly causing the leak.

to try and see where it’s getting in on your car do the hose pipe test with someone hosing the car whilst you’re inside, other than that it’s the old smoke test to try and ascertain where the water is getting in, water leaks are always a mare best of luck with it

Not sure if a mk2 focus will have the same issue but my mk2 is doing it. The problem is the tray under the plastic scuttle panel. The seam sealer must be porous and water weeps through it. Took me ages to find. I had a bore scope right up under the dash. I put compressed air through it and you could see it bubbling. Absolutely crap build quality lol I’d be well pissed if I had a 20 odd grand RS

usual culprit on a mk3 focus is the vents behind the rear bumper as water gets in and runs under carpets to th footwells, very common on mk3 models

Hi all thank you for the help with this, I have seen a video that says the water leak will becoming from where the panels join together at the top of the boot, roughly where the hinges are, has anyone come across this before and if so how big of a job will it be

Mines a mk2 I had water ingress from the rear seams along the roof rail and boot hinges. I taped them off carefully and tiger sealed them luckily my car is black. Focus’s are incredibly poor quality build wise. I’ve done the rear bumper air vents leak on a mk3 hatchback that’s very common. Also my brother has a mk3 estate that was leaking from where the boot struts bolt on

@ajamesc, thank you, mine seems to leak from the seems next to the boot struts, at end of gutter rails. How har was it to peel it back to re-seal it.

Like I say mines a mk2 but the gutter rail trim on mine was stuck down. I pulled it up dried everything off. Tapped it up and sealed it with tiger seal. I brushed it about with a paint brush so it looked like seam sealer. As I say lucky my car is black. I stuck the gutter rail trims back down with the tiger seal

@ajamesc, ask how har to do as I am not a mechanic and have limited tools, currently do not have funds at this moment to leave it with a garage to fix for me. Thank you again for the advice on how to solve it.

It was easy for me. Hardest bit is removing interior to locate leaks. It’s fairly simple to seal seams if you tape everything up so it’s a nice neat job. I’m getting good at finding leaks now with a focus sieve. I’ve had leaks back front and middle due to the back. Luckily mines only an ST. I’d be furious if I had an expensive RS
