Default Extra BHP for free!!!

What a great morning for a blast in my 2wd Saff!!! Dry roads, blue sky and freezing cold!!! I don't know how much difference it makes but it is very noticeable how hard the engine wants to go with all that lovely freezing air going into the turbo!!! Best time of the year until they start salting the roads if you want to get the best performance out of your Cosworth!!!

When I used to fly model helicopters you could easily tell freezing air as the dense air made the helicopter have much more lift. You could even hear the revs rise on the engine when you flew in to pockets of cold air. One of my friends flew real copters in the navy and commented that it was even more profound in a real one

I once measured the same car on the road in both cold (-10 degrees Celsius) and warm (32 degrees Celsius) weather.
In cold weather i measured 325 bhp and in warm weather 295 bhp. That's about 10% difference in total.
Nominal the engine had 305 bhp. (At 21 degrees Celsius. the car was a Sierra Cosworth 4x4.)

I have not done a comparison with any measuring data but it would not suprise me what you have said as the difference I can feel is real! Likewise on a very hot Summers day performance is less.
