Hi everyone I知 new to this forum, I joined as I I致e just bought a series 2 escort RS turbo and I was advised by the previous owner to join this forum as the people here are very knowledgeable. Any way I noticed the brake pedal is very very hard to push down and needs lots of effort to stop the car, I also realised that it does not have a brake servo but a twin brake fluid reservoir, do you think this is why the brake pedal is very hard? If so can I get a decent brake servo fitted? Thanks in advanced this is my first escort RS turbo
forums as such have sadly faded into the background with social media taking over but theres still some good guys here who know their stuff and plenty of past topics for reference
hi and welcome to the forum! as your brakes are non-assisted they'll probably feel very hard to push compared to anything else built in the last 40 years, but they'll still work well. Fitting a brake servo back on there is possible with some pipe work if that's what you really want. If it has bigger brakes than standard though, you may find the pedal very spongy with a servo setup.
Stick with the pedal box, great upgrade. Check the balance. If it痴 got too much rear bias it won稚 be helping how it feels to stop. You should have it biased to the front bigger calipers/rotors.
Lamb to the slaughter Only kidding I love a rst ! As Jon has said make sure it setup on the bias properly but you will find much harder to use than a servo but once you are used to it and its setup right you will get better peddle feel
