Zetec blacktop idle help
I have a 2.0 Blacktop running in my mk4 escort and have a couple of questions for you tech's.
1) The engine runs lovely but the idle is a little high, when you rev it it jumps up then settles. I'm running stock manifold and ECU.
2) Do I need to connect the VSS and the Clutch pedal switch ? Would this cause the idle problem ? Personally I dont think it would but would like some feedback. Does it actually have a VSS on the gearbox or is it read via the ABS sensor on these engines ?
Thanks in advance, hopefully someone can help me out.

Vss I run them with and without, I can’t tell a difference. The sensor is in the gearbox for both Focus and Mondeo. Reading I’ve done says it cuts fuel on over run. This is how they make pops and bangs maps by adding fuel on over run. ( and timing ).
From memory, clutch switch is a normally closed switch. So unconnected it will think the clutch is down and increase the rpm. Only a little. You can connect the pin to the sensor common earth ( brown )
if you you tell me if the loom / ecu is Focus or Mondeo I can tell you what pin is what.

Probably idling at about 1000, sometimes it creeps up a little more.
2000 would be one of the last Mondeo zetecs.
I would guess the ecu is an OWL5.
To save cutting and pasting have a look here http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/foru...php?tid=179921
