Default Cylinder head removal.

Hi folks,
replacing the cylinder head on my 4wd saph with the exhaust and inlet manifolds fitted as per the manual is difficult given the weight and bulk of the thing when trying to position it from a hoist without damage. I was thinking about just bolting back the head on its own but not sure if it's then possible to reach the lower nuts on the exhaust manifold. Anybody managed it? Thanks.

certainly possible when the engine's going in the cramped engine bay of a kit car but requires a modified 13mm spanner to get at the hidden exhaust lower nuts. however, can't see why its difficult with the manifolds still attached to the head if you have a helper to guide it on as the other person lowers the hoist

Thanks 20/20. I tend to agree so will mount back with the exhaust manifold. However, I have removed the turbo which ,even with the studs removed ,tends to foul the exhaust pipe and obstruct lowering the head onto the block. Many thanks for your response.
