Default Rs Turbo psi

Hi there,

was wondering whats the safest boost level to run on my s2? When I bought had a stage 1 turbo and stainless manifold and exhaust, a half mount Intercooler but no chip? The chap must of been having the intentions to do so! I’ve had the car chipped and it’s boosting about 7-8psi. Still has the Amal valve fitted and want to keep if possible so how does one go about upping the boost a little?! Thanks in advance! Internals are all standard from what I know.

Chipped ecu and then take it to a tuner to be set up. You want a tuner that is experienced with the mfi system.

Hi thanks for the reply, the car has had a chipped Ecuador’s fitted already, I was curious what level of boost it could run at that spec and how to achieve that level of boost without ripping the Amal valve out and replacing with a bleed valve?

I think it will be mainly determined by how good the mfi system is and the engine condition. It needs setting up properly otherwise it can all go horribly wrong.

Where do you live?

Unless it has a -31 actuator you wont get much higher boost than what you are currently getting. As other poster said bring it to tuner to get set up on rolling road it’ll give you piece of mind and will save your engine from crapping itself if you go adjusting boost levels without fueling to match...Ł70 is alot cheaper than a rebuild

Thanks for the replies, I live in Bath so need to do some research as to where I can take it? Msd is along way from home! I think I’ll get a -31 fitted and find a tuner like you say.

I have a boost gauge was given to me by a friend it’s a tiny little thing from a Subaru, I didn’t want anything too big it reads in cm2 holding 0.5cm2 which according to the web is about 7psi, I think the set up would do it the world of good, just need to find somewhere now! 😂
