First off I have an issue I need help with, the cam and all the lifters in my spare 1.6 CVH head are frozen stuck in the head...... (previous owner stored it dry for 20ish years, I got it just 2 years ago) Does anyone have any tricks to getting them out???? I soaked it all in PB Blaster for a while then Engine Tuner and still haven't had any luck breaking the cam or lifters free, I haven't tried an impacter yet, that's my last resort. And being that the flat hydraulic lifters are stuck in there I can't just pull the camshaft out. The hydrualic studs in the lifters go up and down alright but I can't spin them of pull them out to save my life, any ideas?
Next I have some identification questions:
On my cam retainer there's an "S" or "5" stamped in it, what does that mean?
And on my head it says "Essex" I could be wrong but I don't think it's an American head, I'm curious what exactly it is...... I was told that the American heads have bolts for the rockers (like my 1.9s) and the European heads have studs for the rockers, is that true?
And lastly here's the aforementioned 1.6 head, I took out everything but the oil channel inserts, cam, and lifters. Everything I took off has been media blasted clean again for when I get my cam and lifters out......
