Default gear linkage swap

Going to be changing over to a puma linkage on zetec engine'd mk2 fiesta.

Other than bolting everything up is there anything specific that needs to be done?

iv just heard of people having to leabe the box in a certain postion/gear for it all to work and align properly.

thanks

Yup, there is no return spring inside the linkage to neutral as this is inside the box on ib5's. So you could to either live with it not returning to neutral which is horrible, or build yourself a contraption to return it to neutral yourself.
Else you could open up the box and add the spring the ib5 uses.

Sorry i may have miss explained. i already have an IB5 box or least i should as iv got a 2.0 silvertop and a 5 speed box.

Im just looking for help in the actual job of swapping the linkage, because i have read the box needs to in a certain gear when you remove the linkage so that everything lines up and selects the correct location when in operation.

Ah in which case happy days.
Aligning the linkage is pretty easy.
Bung the box in 4th, then when you fit the gear linkage, get someone to hold that in forth (or use a rubber band if your on your todd) - then mate the linkage to the gbox shaft and tighten up. That should then give you a decent alignment

Nice one thank you.

Going to get 20mm chopped out of both rods first and hope for the easiest fit after that.

Does anyone have a diagram of the mounting bracket made to avoid holes being drilled in the tunnel?
