Default Anyone using this type of fuel pump instead of a Bosch?

Was just looking for a fuel pump on eBay and stumbled across these, wondered if anyone has used something similar instead of the Bosch 044 that everyone seems to use? Would be particularly keen to hear feedback from any tuners who’ve used non-Bosch pumps.

Think people like to pay more for fuel pumps as it’s insurnace, I highly doubt anyone has used that one on a cossie tbh mate.

Er, no, why risk a £5000 Engine on cheap crap...or just breaking down. Buy a dw350 for £220 or an original 044 but they are copied a lot.

I did half expect this type of reply, it’s a fair point, I do have a Bosch unit on my other car, but are we just paying for the name or something genuinely better?

The copies do fail. I would go original all day long and many of the "originals" sold are fake.

I will sell a little use gen one soon

When almost nobody yet has created an equal to the 044 in over 30 years of use.....it seems nigh on impossible for some Chinese company to do it now for only £30

If you have proper safeties in place that protect against a failing pump, then go ahead. Otherwise it seems a bit silly.

I had a pair of AEM inline pumps . I used them for a year but I've now changed to in-tank Walbros instead.
They claimed 380lph when I bought them, although that number seems to have risen since them. Whether the pumps have changed or not, who knows.

I never did test them to see if they did flow any better than the 044's I'd used for many years previous to that, but in all honesty I dont think they really did. Although that's not an empirical test.

AEM/Grams seem to sell the same pump....and there are even sellers on egay with identical looking pumps at a much cheaper price. So wouldnt surprise me if they all have the same origins.

You just never seem to know with pumps these days !!

I find it funny you saying "are we just paying for the name", how many of us when it comes to other parts for our Cosworths will only fit parts that are new or new old stock and must be genuine Ford, even though there are non genuine parts available at a fraction of the cost!!!
For me the Bosch 044 pump is a tried and tested item and I would not take a chance on something else because its cheaper and claims to be as good.

If an 044 fits the goals for your build...then you simply cannot go wrong buying a genuine 044.

The hardest bit there it might seem is avoiding the Chinese clones !
