Default Heaters not heating up?

Mk6 fiesta
If the fan is set to low speeds there is, eventually, some warm air, but other than that it's dead cold
There's water in the system, the engine temperature is normal on the gauge, is the matrix blocked or is there something else?

Sounds like a blocked matrix, can you feel the pipes on the back of the block going through the bulkhead? You might be able to back flush it with a hose or try some cooling system flush?

Can't really get to the pipes to check, modern tech etc means there's too much bollocks in the way

If your bollocks are in the way you need to mind out for the fan blades as that could be painful.

Might be worth a drain down and try and do a pressure flush and the try it again

Turns out it was the pipe to the heater matrix

Because it failed last night and dumped all the coolant out into the floor

My next day off isn't until Tuesday so I guess I'll have a look at it then

Cool. I was sceptical whether it would have the HCV.

I only mentioned it as I know on earlier models, it was a common issue.

i changed it on my mk4.5, it was easy

but this pipe on the mk6.5 was an utter bastard

apparently it's so common that when it split the aa guy had just come from the same issue on another car and had used the one he normally carries with him

but yes, it's air box off, coil pack out of the way, various pipes and stuff to move out of the way and then you can get to the clips

you then have to contort your arms and hands and fingers to get to the quick release fitting on the heater matrix and it's off

took about 5 minutes to put it back together again and another 5 minutes to get it up to temperature but it took around 40 minutes of buggering about to get to that stage in the first place

i've got a picture somewhere but it looks like it had been leaking for some time as there was an extra jubilee clip on it that wasn't on the replacement pipe and it was all pink and furry where it had been leaking from before

i've had the car for 4 years now so it's been a problem for at least that length of time
