Default Ford Escort Saloon (NOT ORION!)

Hi all and this is my escort saloon, started as a normal everyday grandad car then i got my hands on it

Since owning its had
NEW DROPLINKS
NEW WISHBONES
TRACKROD ENDS
NEW DISKS N PADS
NEW SHOES N DRUMS N CYLINDERS
NEW WHEELBARINGS ALL AROUND
NEW CLUTCH
NEW GEARBOX OIL
NEW BELTS NEW PULLEYS AND TENSIORS
NEW WATERPUMP
NEW PLUGS

I Know theyre only services and maintenance bits but for a R Reg 97' it f'in drives so nice.

Ill let the pics do the talking..

When i first got it..

When i first got it.. Hideous 17" St alloys.

Gave it a quick mop, Rs2000 alloys..

Drove it like that for a while, looks so much better without the stripes..

Then the mods started, Depo headlights..

Rs2000 interior going in, Minus 4dr Si doorcards (rocking horse shite)

Nomad style back lights, de-badge, smaller reg..

4-2-1 Decat pipe, powerflow mid and back box off a rs2000

LED colour change, KA Collective gearknob to match the car, GTi steering wheel, and white dials..

Foglight bumper..

Chinese side lights, Astra splitter

24hrs till Fordfair 2017

On betty clinic stand..

Looked like this for awhile..

Got my hands on some Morettes, modded the indicators to the inner lens

Wind deflectors change a car massively.

Wheel change to 16" Mondies

rear bumper was cracked then someone went into the back of me, so this was basically rebuilt and cannot for the love find these bumpers
Those oil spots aren't mine haha
just needs painting.

Plans next are full respray with sideskirts, and get back arches done, paint underneath and leave it at that

I know it isnt high standard but i had most of the bits off my estate and it was Ł300 with 9months MOT, and i pay 280 insurance (21 first car) so i wanted something you dont see everyday, but when you get a thumbs up on the motorway or a rst up ya arse thinking im gonna make it shift and i try but its slow its worth the time and money, thank you for looking.

Thank you for the kind comments, plenty more to come.
as for the engine with it being a 1.6 it cant pull the skin off a rice pudding, id like to drop a 2.0 zetec in it at some point if not zetec a mk3 and leave the escort as it is.

I've had a couple of MK6 Escorts with 2.0 Zetec lumps in. Makes a big difference to them really. Well worth the outlay if you can do most of the work yourself.

Been quite a few years since I had one, but I believe the easiest route is a 2.0 silver top, fitted with a 1.8 Escort oil pump, oil pick up and sump. Use the exhaust manifold and inlet from a 1.8 Escort (with 2.0 Mondeo throttle body) and i think you can swap a couple of pins around in the ECU plug to run it on a 2.0 Mondeo ECU. It has to be the right code though. DESK rings a bell. there used to be guides floating about on doing the pin swap.

EDIT: It is DESK, just found a picture of the ECU that went into my old 2.0 MK6 saloon.

Good job, definitely think the rs2000 wheels looked best! Ive always preferred the saloons/ orions over the normal escorts!

If you can source the bits, it's well worth it. Even over the 1.8, it gives a good increase as the 2.0 has more torque so, compared to the 1.6, it should feel great. Opens you up to a world of turbos and things should you want it too. Looks pretty standard as well. Well, apart from when you fit a stupid yellow cam cover like mine came with

The Saph spoiler looks good and is quite unusual. I had one fitted to one of my Orions:

The later RS Accessory one also looks decent I think. A bit more curved, which might suit the MK6 shape more:

As for wheels, 17s all the way! They don't ride as well, but they look so good on the late Escorts in my view. This is my old 2.0 saloon:

Plus a couple of randoms I just found on my photobucket account:
