Default TTV lighter flywheel noise at idle

Hello as the name suggests I want to know if that is true about the flywheels. Is that the for all the avilable clutches or just the racing superlight one. The other one uses the original sprung clutch.

Thanks in advance, sorry if it's been covered.

So does the ttv flywheel and there sprung clutch plate and cover make noise or does it only make noise when you use the ttv flywheel and the original clutch and cover.
Anyone know as iam looking at getting one

Cheers Paul

any solid flywheel will be noisy if the car was originally fitted with a dmf. My old ST was terrible with the organic helix kit.
It's just one of those things unfortunately. I'm saving up for one at the moment but it rarely gets used on the road.

Why does it make the noise? . I heard of people buying the ttv flywheel and fitting with the original clutch and cover which are not sprung hence the noise but surely the ttv flywheel fitted with there sprung clutch and plate should make no noise at all as it would be like a normal gearbox and clutch kit before all this dmf bollocks.
It must be rubbing or hitting something or not releasing properly

It's just one of those things mate. Dmf's do a real good job of dampening vibrations out. The rattle is just the gearbox dancing around to these new vibrations.

Maybe a sprung plate does not offer the required amount of dampening for the noise to stop.

There was a recent post on Facebook where the guy had got his crank, flywheel, and clutch all dynamically balanced.
He experiences hardly any noise.

I wasnt aware you coild fit a standard clutch to the ttv. Certainly makes the conversion a lot cheaper

I am after one for the Megane. Most seem to fit them with an unsprung clutch plate.

For the meg, ttv fly and standard clutch comes in at around £500. Ttv r26.r fly and clutch, just over 6 and ttv fly and helix clutch is over £1000 like my st setup.

So I figured for my st turbo engine that I am still building I would try the Blacktop flywheel with the late 170 clutchplate (240mm) And space the thrust bearing if needed to make up the differance in height.

I am sure it's already been done.

Would be cool if you got it to work. But I was under the impression the input shaft was a completely different spline

Yeh that's why you use the st170 clutch drive plate. 2003> where 240mm same as Zetec, Rs ect.

The st setup is thicker so the slave cylinder may need spacing. It's common to mix and match with rwd kitcars.

The noise I've heard on YouTube videos does not sound like a vibration it's like a chattering no engine would transmit that sort of noise without being well and truly fucked.
It sounds like something is not releasing enough like the clutch plate etc .
I could live with he vibration but I could not sit in a car at the lights that chatters like the videos on YouTube.
Has anyone fitted a ttv kit using there sprung clutch plate and cover and flywheel.

Cheers paul

It's flywheel chatter as already said. Nothing is fucked, it's just the undampened imbalances rattling the gear sets about.
Hence why the noise goes away when the clutch is pressed. I've got two friends with ttv setups and sprung covers and they both rattle

Spoke to ttv today and they have said that some engines don't make the noise but most do . They are putting it down to wear and tear on the gearbox/ gear set etc.
I don't think I will be buying one I will go standard.

Funny how every car from the inception of the internal combustion engine till around the mid 2000s had solid flywheels and they didn't rattle.

I have a lightweight flywheel on my rally car, solid, it doesn't rattle.

Secondary and trinary harmonics are present in all rotating masses, the 4 cylinder engine is horrific in terms of dynamic balance, but, there should still not be significant noise unless tolerances are wide in the transmission, the noise will not be from the engine.

Tell me about it mark for £600 all in then another few hundred for taking the box out then it sounds like a bag of shit just ain't selling it to me . I've swapped different flywheels from other fords model and drilled the holes out larger on my zetec turbo and never had no noise what so ever .
