Default 205 block alternative

Hello everyone,
I'm new here in the forum.
I'm sure that a solution for my problem is here:
The current setup is Sierra with Pinto 205 block and yb cosworth head (aftermarket ECU) + borg warner T5 gearbox. The cylinder head is damaged + pistons should be replaced.
Repairing / replacing the cylinder head and piston replacement is very expensive where I live , so my thought is replacing to a modern engine that easy to find. Is there any newer engine (N/A or turbo) that can fit with the same bellhousing bolt pattern? assuming that the bellhousing is the critical issue and engine mounts / electrical harness is less critical.

Thanks !

I suspect the eco boost engine can be made to fit. The Duratec would also go in.

What car is it in, what drive train 2wd, 4wd, fwd, rwd?

In a cossie Sierra or escort I would stick to the original engine for value but expect a 300bhp Duratec would be good too.

Hi
This is a rwd sierra.
My biggest concern is the engine to gearbox fitting.

Thanks

You can get a Mazda rx8 box to bolt up to the Duratec with an off the shelf adapter plate or complete bellhousing. You can get crate engines from ford and Cosworth. The box is 6 speed and close ratio, it is also light.

I think the Duratec will probably fit but an adapter plate would get round it if not.

Hi,
My goal is to stay with the T5 gearbox + 205 bellhousing. Which Duratec family engine you propose?
Any other relative easy to find you propose (maybe with different bellhousing but T5 gearbox).

Thanks !

You can buy Duratec crate engine brand new for not a lot. I would go for the 2.3 l engine. But I would be worried about the value of the Sierra if a 2 door.

Also look at the 24v boa engine from the Granada as that was a Cosworth unit. v6. I expect that would bolt up.

Hi,
This is a 1.6l 4 door that has modified , so not really any value for the vehicle.
Just looking for the cheapest engine conversion , boosted or not (may build a low boost turbo).

Thanks

Go for an old zetec then and I expect it would bolt straight on.
