Cosworth T25 GGR 305 chip trubble. Need some help please.
Hi.
I bougth GGR 305 chip for my T25 escos a little while ago. Universal chip (cosy-anti-card) and i'm having some problems..anybody have some experience with this kind of chip?
First week it worked fine and no problems, and sudden the car would not start, took the chip out and everything was ok again. I waited a week or so and tryed the chip agian, car started and was running 500 O/min, after a few minutes it was running normal 1000 O/min, after about 30min of driving something happened, the car did not run normal at all, seemed like it got to much fuel or something so i had to take the chip out again. I've taken it out and put it back in a couple of times and it works a little while at the time and same problem happens after a little while of driving.
I am running a 340LPH fuel pump and 4 bar fuel pressure regulator and 3" monegoose exhaust.
Anybody know what the problem could be?? i dont have a clue.
Appreciate if someone have some answers!
(Sorry guys for bad english)
Are you saying you have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and its set at 4bar?
4 bar sounds to high unless the GGR chip specifically requires this?
I think 3.5 bar with reference hose disconected is standard.
Yes it's an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, the guy who sold me this chip told me i needed this with the chip. yes 3.5 bar i standard. I'm starting to think there is something wrong with the chip or maybe some contact problems.
Yes,i have cleaned the J3 port but it didn't seem to help. Im gonna try to spacce the chip a little, maybe the chip is sitting to deep down on the J3 port. I hope i get this sorted.
There are 2 EEC diagnostic plugs. Both between the bulkhead and left strut turret in engine bay. The 2pin plug is for software based diagnostics like FordDiag. Out of the two 3pin plugs, one is EEC diagnostics for a flashing light code tool.
I know you said you cleaned it, what about the back side of the J3?
I cannot fathom how a car can run right with a generic chip and some adjustments to fuel pressure? Get it live mapped by someone who knows what they are doing and you will love the car.
The 4bar fpr is needed to increase injector flow rate to go along with the increased boost the GGR chip allows. The oem injectors are maxed out at 4bar on a cool day with ggr 305 boost levels.
Yes, a tune specific to the particular car will be better, but the GGR chips do work.
To get serious about tuning, GHAJ0 - CARD/QUIK/COSY/ANTI, a Moates Quarterhorse and associated software is the go.

The EEC is self learning. It relies on the HEGO to learn the closed loop fueling needs of the engine and stores the results in KAM. 30 min is enough time. As it runs worse after 30 min rather than better, that points to a sensor issue, possibly the HEGO. Get a known good wideband on it and compare to HEGO output. Give your MAF a good clean. Check the ECT sensor. What do the plugs look like, should give you a pointer to rich or lean.
Thanks a lot for answers john, i appreciate it very much!
Yes i took the housing of the ecu and did a proper cleaning on both sides.
Now i know at least where to begin.
I've given the MAF a clean, is the ECT sensor located under the timingbelt cover?
I forgot to mention there is often smell of unnbured fuel when the car is without the chip, but it seems to run normal tho. I tryed the chip again and its running very rich!
