ST3 won't start. No tick over
Hi all. There are quite a few posts about ST's not starting, I've read through quite a few and not found anything that can help me. I have a 2007 ST3 with a dream science remap and aftermarket DV.
These mods have been on the car for a couple of years and everything is fine.
So, today I was pulling up at some lights where a new taxi driver decided to cut in front of me. I pulled along side him switched the esp off and readied for a quick lift off. Done this a few times before. ( I don't thrash my car, but occasionally let her have a bit of fun)
I pulled away nice and quick, slowed down to normal speed to make a right turn and all the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I looked down and noticed a couple of massages. Them being, esp error? Engine management, limp mode, limited power? Maybe. I wish I paid more attention but I was trying to turn the corner and was slight traffic ahead and had my eyes focuses on the road.
I pulled up straight away and turned the engine off. Waiting a min then tried to start her up again. The dash returned to normal (warnings had gone) but car wouldn't start. Didn't even try to turn over. Makes a slightly high pitch noise, not like the chugging noise when it morally starts.
My father in law came to toe me home (2 mins away) we tried to jump start invade it was a battery fault, no luck.
Tried the smallest bump start while towing, no luck.
A friend of mine who is not a machanic but has some good mechanical knowledge tried a couple of things.
Checked the belts, the were still in place. And we're turning when attempting to start the car.
His code reader said it was an emobilser fault, which he disagreed with.
He jacked the front wheel up and spun the wheel. To start with it would not spin forwards. But after a couple of tries, freely spud. He suggested that there is a compression issue.
I know this is a long post and I know ultimately I will have to have it recovered to a garage but I'd like to know if anyone has had this/similar issues and how they were fixed. An idea of price be helpful too.
Thanks for reading.
