Hello, Ive recently bought a rotary polisher and will be doing a spot of light correction work on my saph cosworth.






Now, I've used a DA loads of times with some good results but I know these can be achieved quicker with a rotary.
Any tips?
I was thinking that I would make light quick passes with a fairly wet sponge pad and some g3 and then use a refining polish to finish? Does anyone have a lot of experience with one?

 

i make sure i have a water spray to keep the panel wet
i"ve been told g3 is the caveman choice now-although i still use it
i think for classics etc there are far better choices now,nicer waffle pads etc

i"m no detailer at all but g3 revives paint well,but very course

I'd be suprised if you need a rotary on saff paint, the paint on my car is so super soft the da will cut it in no time. Detailing World will give you step by step advice and tips so I'd suggest you head over there.

 

A good DA + microfiber pads cut well enough on any paint, since I got my rupes my flex hardly gets used,you can go through paint just as easy with da its all about knowing the paint condtion your dealing with,you would be better off spending money on a PTG and keep the DA imo

 

I am just going to be very careful with it, hopefully soon I will have a ptg and can really see what results I can achieve with a combination of the rotary, da and by hand.

 

I use the 3m range of fine, super fine and fast cut with the colour coded pads, I use the da though as my rotary can be very harsh and I have burned through paint with it before. I only use the rotary for metal cleaning now.

 

If you have not had any previous experience with a rotary polisher, do not use it on your pride and joy, many people do try and some get great results but the more confident you get with the rotary, the more chance that you will push your lock to far and break through, stick with the DA.
