Loads of 3mm spacer shims on ebay.

I've always been a bit wary of shim style spacers as I don't like the idea of recuding the spigots width. However, you'll need to go at least 10mm to get hubcentric.

If the offset is ET35 and you add a 3mm spacer the new offset is ET32.

Lower the offset the further out the wheel sits.

Take ET35 wheels to machine shop.
Get 3mm machined off faces and voila ET38.

As for safety its probably not a great idea to start machining bits off wheels

Best thing to do is buy some ET38 wheels..

Yes you can just buy ET38 stick a 3mm spacer on to bring back to ET35 and jobs a carrot. running a 3mm spacer is probably ok with original studs or if a little short get longer ones.

Sorry for confusion I thought you already had ET35 wheels and wanted to make them ET38..

Are the ET38 rims the same width as the Et35's ??
Dont forget the ET is measured from the centre of the rim so if thy are wider you may need the different offset anyway.

Fitting them will be the only way then really. Iirc std rim is 6j, so your adding 38mm (ish) of width, taking that into account if my memory is correct the inner edge of your new rims will still be roughly 15mm closer to the suspension components ect.

Some manufacturers measure across the rim, some between the beads, so you may have a difference there too.

Dave

(std's are 5.5j, so it gets worse......)
