Default Radiant Red Fiesta RS Turbo progress/build

right everyone after the sale of the previous car fell through (less said the better)
i had a great bit of luck and dropped on this motor from a cracking guy from up cumbria
its totally different spec wise to the white one i was going to get and i actually prefer that if im honest as its a lovely base to make a great car from and not ruin the oe looks/charm of it too much.

its a 1990 car in red
totally standard engine wise apart from a receipt for some form of hybrid turbo
stainless system
lowered suspension
had a resto a few years ago and is in great shape nice and solid in all the usual areas.
also had an engine rebuild a few years ago

the car has not been on the road since 2014 but the current owner took the car for a pre mot on monday and it failed on the following

emissions too high
handbrake cable needs adjusting
spare wheel needs a tyre
one headlight not working
reverse light switch intermittent

and that was it so the plan is to give the car a real good full service including the following

oil and filter
ht leads and denso ik27 plugs
fuel filter
uprated frst fuel pump
coolant change
drive belt
cam belt and water pump kit
new set of wipers all round
new set of bulbs all round

the owner also informs me that the turbo will need a rebuild which is not a problem as it will go to my mate wilky for the said work and possibly a bit more of his magic work.

i also have my other mate who is a professional detailer booked in for the end of march to give the car a full paint correction detail and interior valet etc etc so the car will look spot on once done.

the plans are then to refit rebuilt turbo and then get the car an m.o.t. once this is done ill be calling msd for one of there set up sessions and if all well followed by there stage 3 conversion on the same day

looks wise with the car i dont really want to change anything apart from i think its crying out for the period 4" tailpipe on there

anyway enough babbling from me for now here are a few pics for you all

Car looks great, as Glenn said reverse lights are not part of mot, neither is the spare wheel.

cheers guys and i think i may of got a bit mixed up

it failed on the emissions and handbrake

the other things are what the previous owner told me about, he has since fitted a new tyre on the spare.

i must say it has one of the sweetest sounding cvh engines iv heard, even karl3dr off here said how well it sounded

Looks a good one. Hope you checked the body out properly tho. Plenty of people have bought what they thought was a peach and turned out to be a lemon but good luck with it. I'm very biased towards a shiny red fiesta myself

Will keep an eye on this tho. Subscribed

From what I can see the last two digits of the reg are AR, so she is an Essex car registered out of the Chelmsford office.

Fill out that V888 IIRC you will get the dealer it were issued from..(rates ford I bet..)..plus all the old owners an the like..

The tailgate on it, has it got the two swage lines in it? If not its a later one as they had it till j plate..

Does look nice though, gotta get mine restored ffs

The bit you ask about attached to air box is the amal valve or boost solenoid whichever floats ya boat

AND IT SHOULDN'T BE COVERED IN PASTE/SEALER!!!!!!

Really don't know what your chances of finding a new one are gonna be if its naff but at a guess it will involve teeth or a unicorn...

Cool - Thought would ask!

I managed to get the last brand new mongoose last year for sale. Will have a nose around for you to see if we can find any.
Get the cooler from auto specialist - They fit great and don't need to cut!

I got an ex crazy cage cooler for mine, rad wise it has an AS stg2...dogs bollox of a rad, well worth the money..

I've an ERST full scorpion..(with obligatory tired baffles)...its full 4inch tip, outward rolled for the true 90's look..well it ain't on the car as errrrr I need to errrrr get the cunt restored

When I had it on a boosted cab, it ripped the fuck out the noise regs at mot..police had me one night on a trip out for some late night cool air.., full bore through a very confined space...I were given a section summink or other, told to re mot, my tester gave it an advisory for blowing so job were a goodun hahahah..

It is fooooooooking loud , so to celebrate I went up Yarmouth bout six month later got to town centre, summer Saturday, lunch time, packed with people, and a slightly dodgy fuel mix..
it would pop and bang like a grenade storm, well i never noticed two cars back plod were behind us and being slightly hyper I gave it the full works off the lights, well i ain't never seen so many people hit the deck in one hit

Traffic were not impressed, more I think coz I were off down the front at warp speed with flames out the back the cunt, cost me 3 points+fine and a year ban from the town centre
Was a beast of a time with that exhaust, hence its still moth balled in my loft ready for the frst.

Should get a touch louder when its been shortened, had the 90deg tail pipe straightened, shortened, and one day some bad boy ALS with a proper loud BOV.

I'm building her back to the decade when we were proud to be loud..

She my second frst, first were a mongrel with a stage 3 T2, few tweeks, went like fuck upto 130, but had a magnex system and were pathetic for noise, so got opened up...much better but no match for the might of a Scorpion!!

Anyway soz blunty, just seeing yours has truely awoken the love I have for these motors, miss mine so much..

Anyway soz blunty, just seeing yours has truely awoken the love I have for these motors, miss mine so much..
haha loving the trip down memory lane fella, and im glad this has relit your passion for them

update from yesterday

new ht leads and plugs fitted, throttle bodie removed and cleaned out (needs new gasket that we cant find anywhere).
removed front wheels to investigate brakes and confirms it needs new discs and pads, we are also going to fit new rear brake shoes/cylinders whilst were at it.

fitted new bonnet release handle as original was broke, investigated some dodgy wiring for the horn which will be repaired/replaced.

today the new fuel filter will be fitted and we are going to investigate the reason behind drivers headlight not working also heaters dont seem to work so something else to look at

bit of an update nothing major though

ordered and received new exhaust manifold, rocker cover and throttle bodie gaskets plus sump plug and washer from matt lewis, really nice guy and super quick delivery

iv ordered my new front discs and pads from ecp iv gone for the brembo's as iv always been impressed with there stuff down the years.

my front and rear strut braces arrived on weds from a sale over on facebook bit of a bargain also

iv also paid for what i feel is a mod thats got to be done, a scorpion backbox with the proper period 4" tailpipe and that should be with me sometime next week.

4 new uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres have been ordered and will be here with me next week also.

we are hoping to get a bit done on the car this weekend and id imagine i will be getting my turbo returned to me at the back end of next week which im really looking forward to as bernie has some nice ideas of what he going to do to it

think the rocker cover gasket will be done tomorrow and refit throttle bodie/new gasket, might also fit thenew exhaust manifold studs and pop the new gasket on there ready.

If you are fitting a rubber rocker gasket it'll need trimming as it fouls the coilpack on the side of the engine.

I tried a rubber one out. I dont think much of them to be honest. Cork is better.
