Thanks. Escort paint job is abit poor. Looks like its had too many coats of paint, something to sort out at somepoint, plus when I had the N/S sill replaced the bloke tacked the front wing 5mm to close to the door and thus touches the door at the bottom.

The Fiesta is pretty tidy, I wouldnt mind having the roof painted as it look like cats/birds have scratched it.

Should have asked, what are you doing about the spare wheel? i binned my tray off as the bolt was rotten to the holder and it was twisted, and I hate under boot spare wheels. Ive yet to bolt in a spare wheel post.

you really should look into a professional detailer to see what they can do for you matey, you would be surprised at how they can correct paintwork and for a fraction of the cost of a repaint my mate is doing mine and tbh i thought it may of needed repainting but he was like oh yeah i can sort this no bother.

its something iv not thought about yet lol, i know the spare is in the boot atm and there is a tray under there so its something we will investigate if we can refit the wheel there then we will if not then will remove the tray and go from there.

Top choice on the pipe front....whats it off ERST?

REF the spare wheel, I binned mine off but kept all the tray, and the hanging brackets as I took em off chassis for a smoother look...

I actually went out and cleaned mine out yesterday, Mrs fraggle has had a meltdown and is realising just what my little beast means too us...glad I left your thread open in me phone hahaha

got a nice update for you all

my hybrid t2 is all built up and ready to come back to me courtesy of wilky (bernies blowers) and its a proper bernie special.

consists of 360 bearing, escort cosworth t28 comp wheel and nissan t28 turbine all machined into oe housings so should make for a nice turbo and keep the oe look

Best way they drive is on a t2 IMO, hence why I kept mine and had very similar build to you done on it. Spools up very quickly and is nice to drive!

i can only go off what my bros old castle performance stage 2 used to drive like and i remember it being super responsive with adequate poke, my thinking is to get the response of a t2 with a good solid 180-200bhp and around 200-220 lbft should make for a really quick car point to point

very slowly as no progress has been made in weeks, but over the next 3 weeks or so there should be plenty of updates

What is the plan for the car? Resto? Performance? Or both? Like the exhaust are you going to fit a set of 16" alloys on or stay with the standard wheels?

i think the theme of this car will be oe+ defo doesnt need a resto apart from a good weekend on the paintwork by my mate and also a quick go over on the interior.

sticking with the oe wheels, its got to have the period 4" exhaust and im still loving the fact iv got a proper original scorpion to put on.

if i was going for power then i would not really bother with the cvh and go full 16v turbo but im more than happy to get around 200bhp on this car and still have the oe response and have it looking mostly original

well we have another really good set of updates so here goes

last night i managed to get a few unplanned hours on the car and this is what was done

fitted new fuel filter
fitted replacement brake master clylinder and put new brake fluid in
managed to have a play and set the co at idle and all i can say without a gauge/machine it a mile better smells alot less rich and sounds much more like a cvh turbo.

tomorrows jobs are the following

fit drivers side headlight bulb
sort the horn as not working and looks like its been bodged to make work in the past
check handbrake as it might need a tighten up
bleed brake system and top up accordingly
if get time refit rear view mirror and take a look at why reverse light isnt working.

oh yeah and the big news is that the car is booked in for its m.o.t at 2pm on Saturday 7th May and regardless of result the car will be coming back to my place for the 1st time since i have owned it

Lovely car. Always loved these. The brake servo is in an odd place on these, almost as if it was designed as a left hooker, must have just been a space thing.

as above the car didnt go for its mot on saturday due to me feeling a bit unwell but the good thing is the horn/headlights were sorted and last night i popped across and a new alternator belt was fitted along with refitting the spare wheel into the proper place.

we are now just awaiting 2 relays to arrive from good old ebay and were then all ready to roll with the newly rebooked mot this coming saturday at 10am

well heres the long awaited update from yesterday

the car failed the mot but really on nothing major

failed on the following
handbrake below efficiency
rear brakes imbalanced/uneven 62%
then 2 anti roll bar link dust covers and one ball joint dust cover deteriorated
steering rack gaiter split
it also requires 2 bits of welding on subframe and rear axle.

this didnt dishearten me at all as it was nice to finally drive the car and we certainly did a great job of setting the fuelling it flew through all the emissions tests.
the car drove lovely and the new turbo really does work well i only gave it a couple of tickles as i want make sure its set up properly before going mad.

i also had my 1st offer to buy the car within 5 mins of being out in it

got various pics throughout the day

with its big brother before heading to mot

Nice job
Won't take you long to sort them bits

We should arrange a PF meet for our Northwest Members
There's more and more of us appearing slowly

I'm also waiting to here back off Oulton Park regarding Gold Cup this year

I organised a stand for a few of us last year, so maybe get a PF one together?
Great weekend

did you find the cause to the fault regarding the reverse light?

I've been out in mine lately, I Put it on the road 1st may. I've done just shy of 80 miles, I've had to fit a replacement heater fan as the factory fit one needs attention, My ignition relay was getting hot. So I replaced that but now my boot popper doesn't work on that relay. Still works on the old one.

not yet although the wiring in my car is a real mish mash but its certainly not the reverse light switch. we sorted some real bodge jobs out in order to sort drivers headlight and horn.

nice to hear that you have been able to do a few miles i cant wait to do the same

the relays do seem a bit on off dont they and it looks like my fuse box has got hot at some point

well after what seems an eternity i finally have an update

yesterday we finally fitted the following
x2 anti roll bar link
x1 track rod end
x2 steering rack gaitors
x1 handbrake cable
x2 rear brake cylinders
x2 set of new rear brake shoes

so apart from the welding its ready to go for mot hopefully have it in for welding either end of this month or start of next.

also had my mate ryan frm r&k detailing do a 3 stage correction on the car its come up much better but he was adamant it all needed wet sanding to get a top finish but that was outta the question due to costs etc.

here are a few pics not the best

Looks great as it is now. Only things letting it down is lack of badge on the rear and the post 2000 badge. Needs the light blue ones to finish it off.

My FRST went in for its MoT wednesday, It failed and I told them to do the work themselves... I doubt it'd be seeing it let alone getting it back any time soon.
