No fucking about a level 8 is what you need.

Its more robust than the P8 and will do most things you require.

Get MSD to live map it once your running job done.

You can still run low impedence injectors with the l8 ,like Siemens 55lb or83lb which is good as well.

No there not.

L1 and L6 have different electronics, but L8 has double the memory, i.e. 128 KB.

This means it is capable of running functions like ALS, LC, CL etc.

Anyone got a list to what ECU is in each year?

For instance what's in my K plate Sapphire out of interest?

I wouldnt even bother running cossie management on a RS Turbo - by the time you add up the costs you will be better off going aftermarket as will have a better ecu with more functions and memory and then get a new loom built rather than using 30 year old wiring.

Omex 600 ecu is Ł600 and loom around Ł250 all brand new.

You will pay at least Ł250 for a L8 ecu then the you need engine wiring loom. Then if you want LC or ALS then its more money. Will work out better for aftermarket

It's horses for courses, i personally wouldn't entertain something like omex now I've fitted the cosworth management, there are more tuners with many years experience of working with the system that can map it, also the system uses all ford parts so if your anywhere and start having problems the sensors are readily available, I can't recommend it enough, smooth with great power delivery, but that's my opinion

Omex uses the same sensors - in fact it uses less sensors which means less to go wrong.

Plenty of mappers out there and with the correct gui interface you can even map it yourself. Its not that difficult.

Leaves you more scope for tuning and you can switch maps easily.

Its all positive for me as why would you want to stick with an old ecu - calculators have more processing power than an L8 says it all really

My Stihl strimmer revs faster than my yb but I still prefer the yb

I agree with you, my 450 bhp 2wd Saff runs an L8 ecu , has wasted spark ignition, plus new engine ,fans and fuel pump wiring looms, so it has a more advanced system than the original and does the job really well.
What big advantages would an Omex or similar ecu make?

People get hung up on the fact of the omex is newer technology and you can map it yourself, it's also marginally cheaper, what they forget it's a cruder system on the 600 as it uses batch firing where the cosworth ran sequential as standard, to get sequential you have to use the 710 which is nearly double the cost of the 600 ecu. I personally believe a tried and tested route like the cosworth stuff which is known you can get great results from is the best, keep it simple

Lol, so a backward step then in terms of fuelling.

Exactly, it was F1 technology of the day, just because something is newer and has better better processing power does not necessarily make it better, for the most part it's just sales patter.

One of the most desirable and expensive cars going.
A little old but still good in my books

Yes, one to manage each bank of cylinders, another example is the Maserati Bi-turbo.

That is a TPS, but it depends on the model, the later ones were more like an L8.
